So there I was on Sunday arvo, cold, depressed, not a very happy chappy, when I become aware of an obnoxious Swans supporter nearby. And the Freo supporters near him are taking exception at his behaviour. One of them told him, "I have a short fuse mate, and you aren't helping". This bloke was so obnoxious that he'd stand up to celebrate Sydney goals, and not sit down again as quickly as everybody wanted. He'd make jubilant noises when Sydney did something exceptional. Then someone called security.
Now call me old fashioned, but I thought one of the joys of being a footy spectator was being able to lord it over the opposition supporters when you were beating them. In my naivety, I even thought it was something of a footy tradition. And when you lose, you just suck it up. But no, someone called security.
As he was being led away, I had a word to one of the security guys, letting them know that this bloke hadn't done anything wrong. And the good bit was that he was back in his seat a couple of minutes later.
So please, can we not behave like thin skinned entitled e-gurl supporters?
