Dawson might not be the most coordinated player, but it was actually Lloyd's clumsiness that caused the incident. I know players are supposed to have a duty of care, but a reasonable player in Dawson's position would have expected Lloyd to be able to catch a loopy handball and run off - not turn sharp and low into Dawson's path. I'm not sure how many guys 195 cm tall would have been able to pull up in time from hitting him.
And for what it's worth, Dawson is not our best player, but I reckon whenever he puts on the Freo jumper he tries his hardest, and plays a pretty selfless game. He's really helped our team in some key games over the last few years. Hoping for a suspension to end his career is pretty uncharitable.
