I don't want to use the word poppycock too flippantly but where does the source of this very strong rumour envisage three time premiership side Hawthorn slotting Clancee Pearce in to the lineup?

Simply a very poor explanation......given our disastrous season Blakely is one of the very very few highlights

It's clear that Lyon is giving those 3 ins either a trial or a farewell game.

Someone had to make for de Boer and it wasn't Mzungu who is in the same boat. So it was Blakely but the disposal efficiency excuse was pretty bloody weak.

A similar poor excuse for dropping Griffin for Hannath. As if Clarke is our #1 ruckman at the moment, give me a break.

Perhaps they let Alistair Clarkson pick the side. He wants to take a look at others besides Clancee.

i still feel Blakely was dropped so that if Peel get into finals he will be eligible (good experience) which they wouldn't dare say after the 'hoo ha' over the Balic incident. Does anyone know if Wella is eligible?

I'm not backing up the rationale for dropping Blakely, but surely he had at least one clanger last week when he took that solid contested mark 15m-20m out in front of goal and then wafted it through for a point - so I'm not sure where that quote saying he had 0 clangers comes from - perhaps a different game.

Clangers can be other things besides disposal - like giving away a free kick, missing a difficult shot on goal.

Its not like Blakely's been in and out of the team - he's had a good run of 12 games in a row - and actually for a midfielder his possession numbers are very high because he doesn't play midfielder game time out on the ground.

I have a close mate who says if they can't get the deal done to bring Brad over, Stephen is willing to join Hawthorn and cousin Josh is coming too.

So Hawthorn like the way Pearce brings the ball out of defence and he can't get a game.

We meanwhile obviously like the way that Sheridan and Sutcliffe bring the ball out of defence as they play every week, but Hawthorn see nothing there?

Wouldn't surprise me. Interesting to note that Sheridan's name was mentioned in the press as a trade for Hill. Funnily enough......well it's not really funny.....we took Sheridan before Hill in the same draft.

John Ralph was twittering that Clancee trade suggestion last weekend - don't know if he's the one that started it as a rumour.

I'm pretty sure Clancee did a pre-season trial with Hawthorn before Fremantle rookie listed him the first time around, but his bum was much bigger back then.

I have backed Ross Lyon all through this season and felt he is still the man for the job going forward. But I have lost a heap of respect for him over dropping Blakely. To me, this is a dog act by Lyon. The young bloke has a real chance of winning the rising star if he has a big finish to the season. His stats are as good as anyone in the league for his age and to top it off he gets the hard ball better than any of them. And then for Lyon to drop him for his disposal is criminal in a team full of players who are not only awful kicks, but have been picked week in week out for years despite this. For all his bluster about earning your way in and out of the team Lyon has played favourites for years. I have lost a heap of respect for Lyon's decision to drop Blakely for Pav's 350th.
Blakely comes from a footy family. His dad played for east perth in the 80's and his brother is at swans. I am led to believe they weren't super happy he was drafted to us. Wonder why.

Hughes is playing for Peel, so he's not an inclusion. Silvagni, DeBoer, Tucker, Pavlich are the ins with one still to come out as an emergency. (Mzungu)
