Congrats to St Kilda and Sydney for launching the Pride Match this weekend. Clicky

I've been a bit disappointed by Freo's lack of imagination when it comes to representing the broader Freo community and carving out a niche in the AFL. The Dockers used to be a brave, community-oriented club. I really liked that about our early days. These days the Steves talk about being bold, which sounds more like a font choice than anything actually of substance. The Pride Game would have been perfect for Freo. We already have the highest percentage of female members in the AFL, why not take it a step further and be the most inclusive? It's in keeping with the people and region the Dockers are supposed to represent.

The only game day initiative in the Steve's tenure has been Fan Appreciation Night, which typifies the deadening blandness of their tenure. All of their other decisions have effectively been to make us a more benign entity.

The Eagles thought about having a pride match a few years ago but decided it would upset some of their older supporters

I've already done red, orange, yellow and green. What do you mean there's still another three colours to knit?!

I'll never beat the traffic at this rate.

Anything, anyone does to bring the LGBTQ community into the mainstream is a step forward for our race.

We do have the Puuple Haze Starlight foundation game, thats pretty community focused. The way Freo runs its Indigenous round celebration leaves most other clubs behind. We used to run a really good ANZAC day game as well (but apparently ANZAC day was invented by the Vics, and if you listen to the way they tell it so were the ANZAC'S, WWI and they won the bloody thing).

Sorry team, I am over the AFL trying to be moral compass for the community. I understand that they are looking for awareness, however I cant see how wearing different gear is going to do this.
My opinion, homophobia is disgraceful and many have come along way in acceptance, I just don't know that football played any part of that.
There just seems to be a message at every round of football. i know this is an exaggeration, however sometime the more you bring attention to something the more it can isolate.
I am really sorry if I have offended anyone here. I work for a great company that embraces diversity so the message of acceptance has been at the forefront for many years.
Talk me around this, the answer is probably in my rant.... Just want to watch footy

Totally agree Diesel, Footballers just don't seem to be able to play footy for the sake of playing these days. I'm clearly of a dying breed I go to the footy, well to watch footy. Having said that I'm all for full acceptance of LGBTQIA.

You know how when you go to the football there are big signs with the logos and slogans of products on them. Businesses pay good money to promote their message at the football because they find it's very effective.

If you've been to a home game lately, you might find that McDonalds are not concerned that the more attention they bring to themselves the more they will isolate themselves.

When the AFL give something a round. That something is getting a tremendous benefit.
