Fre_DOH is right on the mark - 3 AFL clubs, now 24 years old, yet still not played a game in any first team outside of the VFL/WAFL. Sometimes, for whatever reason(s), players just don't make it. Fremantle are not the only club with recruiting failures.

I think you'll find injuries were the largest factor keeping him out of AFL footy.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Yeah cmon, memories everybody.
I dont think he ever left the medical room at Freo.
He hardly played a game whilst on our list and when he managed to get back, he broke down again.
We couldnt carry him and Mora longterm.

Some blokes have ability but cant stand up to AFL footy.
I bet he is on the verge of selection for the Cats and something goes amiss.
I hope it doesnt because he deserves a go

Bizkit and demo1, yes he's been injury plagued (prone?) but it's his disposal skills which are the real killers.

This season he injured his PCL in the first round of the NAB Challenge and missed the first 8 rounds of the VFL season.

His big game last weekend included 23 handball receives and 5 uncontested marks. Easy to rack up the stats when you're playing the seagull role (in a game v the 12th placed team, which your team wins by 111 points). Even then he still managed 7 ineffective kicks and 3 ineffective handballs.

This season his stats look like this:
Games: 6
Effective kicks: 57
Ineffective kicks: 34
Effective handballs: 53
Ineffective handballs: 16
Handball receives: 59
Contested marks: 1
Uncontested marks: 27
Tackles: 35
Goals: 2
Behinds: 4
Frees for: 6
Frees against: 7
Hit outs: 5

Did alright for the Cats v Crows.
Named in a long list of best. 26 disposals; 14 contested possessions; 65% disposal efficiency; 5 marks; 5 clearances; 5 stoppages; 5 tackles; 6 inside 50s; 1 goal assist.
Looks twice as big as he ever did at Freo - they seem to do 'big' at Geelong.

Maybe he wasn't good enough for the self development plan they do at Freo

Simon Lloyd who was involved player development at Fremantle could have had some input into his drafting at Geelong.

Viv Michie is averaging close to 30 touches a game in the VFL. Still not getting a game for Melbourne.

Sigh ....

When Sam became available after not making it at Hawthorn, I posted on this site that we should get him. The experts shouted me down.

When we got him I was delighted - but he never got on the park due to injury ... Then at Subi he plays a half season and nearly pulls off a Sandover. After a nervous start he settled into his debut beautifully and named one of The Cats best. Pretty good start methinks.

He is an elite running machine, custom built for today's game. His disposal efficiency will improve with more games under his belt.

We have missed another. If he remains injury free we will be telling the story of another one that got away.

Now - if anyone will listen - Clem Smith is our next one to go for big time. Overlooked by the Blues this year after debuting under Malthouse last year. Wants to come home. Hard at the ball and skillful by foot and in the air. Better prospect than Sheridan.
