If this is true then GWS clearly still have the head firmly inserted up their own rear ends in regards to this deal.
We offeredwe'll overs last year, the player has not played or trained with a senior football club in a year and has proven that unless he can play in Perth will not play AFL. West Coast have expressed an interest in him, but we all know this is to drive his price up. This may have the effect of driving his price to a second round pick from a third round pick.

Bond has completed very few trades over his tenure. Many on here lay the blame for that at his feet, and that's certainly a possibility. Who knows what happens at the negotiating table.

I know Walters for McCarthy is merely GWS' opening gambit, but when you read something like that, don't you have a moment of doubt that maybe, just maybe, Bond's negotiating parties are worse than he is?

If those are the sorts of deals offered up, I'm glad Bond is too conservative to take them.

I think we all agree but for McCarthy you are going to have to effect a win win trade. Because at the end of the day he is a fine player of a type that is rare.

Bond will look to fleece GWS thinking he has the upperhand and the risk is we lose him to the other Perth team that has Kennedy and McGovern already.

I do think people have forgotten how good he is.

I am interested Hypen what price do you think is fair Hypen. At the moment we have number 3 pick and no second round pick. What player do we give up that they would want and is he worth our first round pick this year or next. I personally think trading future picks is a bit dicey take this year for example.

I think it needs to be a early second round pick. Next years draft is a bumper crop so we wont trade next years pick.

I am thinking Langdon and our third round pick might get you into a position where you get an early decent second round pick plus a late round pick (5th) and then trade the 2nd rd pick to GWS.

McCarthy is nowhere near as good as you are thinking and with his health issues there is no guarantee he'll play at this level again.

Keep Langdon and Walters. Offer them a third rounder or walk away. Then hold GWS totally responsible for the resulting impacts.

People have seemingly quickly forgotten that piece of trash Gubby slagging McCarthy off in public for being soft in wanting to go home and then 2 months later packing up and going back to Victoria because he was homesick.

GWS have a massive and overblown sense of self entitlement, fed by the AFL and are now demanding 10 times what McCarthy is worth because somehow they are owed that. For them McCarthy is a depth player who spends most of his time in NEAFL because GWS has more tall forwards than they can fit into a side.

They don't get Walters for a NEAFL player, they get a third rounder for a NEAFL player who hasn't played or trained for a year and may never play again

I could wear that, my only question is about the value other clubs see in Langdon. Happy for GWS to save face and be proven to be reasonable negotiator. Also avoids trading future picks we do have a number of Langdon type players. Having said that a couple of years ago I thought we were building Ruck stocks.
