How about the holding the man payed to Dangerfield against Sutcliffe versus Pavlich in the goal square, luckily th ball bounced through for a goal, but was till not called. Walters pushed in the back as he kicks it goes straight to our player who handballs to a running player near our fifty free kick called back to Walters, clearly should have been called advantage no interference to natural flow of game and free kick disadvantaged us.
RM has commented on this and could not agree more, in this game the advantage rule was very poorly interpreted this does not show up as a statistic. The Walters one was another one where an advantage was payed therefore registering a free kick but leaving he player in a more compromised position. Dawson was awarded a free kick in the final quarter and handball off, the umpire demanded that ball be returned to Dawson, to my reckoning he was behind the mark so should have been allowed to do so, the ball was returned deep into our defensive 50 and slowed down play and Cats able to structure up.
Nakia Cockatoo twice in the first quarter clearly caught holding the ball with incorrect disposal. Dangerfields deliberate out of bounds in which the field umpire asks if ball was touched by another player before leaving field (clearly is not and critical time in game) and Dangerfield manages to intimidate boundary umpire into saying yes.
These are a few isolated incidents that I can remember, there were more but I couldn't put a time or a player to the particular incident. I have not mentioned Dangerfields out of bounds goal as this is a similar mistake made in Eddie Betts goal earlier in the year and easily made, especially with the speed of the play and the amount of time that the ball spent over the line with the players body also involved. Never the less still an incorrect call.
The free kick count was at one point 8-3 and finished at 20 all therefore 12- 17 from there on anyone else see the correspondence to momentum in games of footy. If this had been a West Coast home game the free kick count would have been 27-18 and the game would have been won.
