Well Brett Kirk chose to leave so what can you do. We also were criticised for being too defensive in our game plan and were asked to please be more attacking and play attractive football. Sydney seem to have gone back to the dour style they were renowned for and it has paid dividends. Of course the right mix of young and old is crucial and Freo definitely have that factor way out of wack this year.

You know what? Freo miss Ryan Crowley more than universally possible, because of a silly decision and a coach's stubbornness.

And Luke McPharlin simply because he is possibly the best there ever was.

The rest is just slackness and passionless ho-hum from the top echelons to the bottom.

These boys need a spark. I can't see it coming from anyone other than Fyfe or Bennell. Sandilands, maybe, but he's too nice to demand relentless pressure of the rest.

Freo will either be Richmond or in the twighlight zone in 2017. Pretty much one in the same thing.

He'd have made the difference in the prelim last year. Fyfe wouldn't have broken his leg and McPharlin's tears would have been joy at making another granny with only Jacky droppy-boy Darling to wipe his bum with the next week.

The rest would be history. Good history. You know it's true.

Bring back the niggly tagger role we love and the rest love to hate. It stops three other mids trying to close in for a tackle, finding themselves in poor position and leaving the oppo outsiders to run free and cause hurt.
