We won't need a first round pick for McCarthy.

If you're going to trade pick 3 you'd trade it for 6 and 10 or something like that and get your ruckman (English) and another quality tall.

I would never use up a good pick on a young ruckman. Too many risks with young big blokes and growing bodies.
You can always pick up a few later in life. There are always those who don't get the opportunity for some reason or another.
Jacobs, Mumford, and a number of others have been traded over the years and at least you have some idea what you are getting.

Pick 3 for 6 and 10 would be nice but I reckon everyone would be trying to do something like that would't they. I thought McCarthy and pick 8 for pick 3 would be like what Melbourne did with Dom Tyson and pick 9 which turned out to be Christian Salam for pick 2 which was Josh Kelly.. I think Josh Kelly is pretty dam good so I don't know who won out of that.. Might have actually been a win win

Forget about McCarhty for our first pick, the deal has been done and we gave up a lower pick for him to GWS. Our first pick is protected for a quality first round pick. We will be trading to gain additional picks and i believe a deal is being discussed for a suns player whose contract expires this year, but not sure who, maybe jaeger omeara?

RR I totally agree Freo have tried to make players into what they need rather than just recruiting what they need. That is part of the reason we find ourselves in the current situation.
Majak was just one example but all teams are guilty of doing it.
Moving on, Jaeger O is just going at the moment, I think he is a fantastic player but do we risk taking another injured on baller? Freo will need to build a surgery and rehabilitation wing at the new Elite Training Facility at this rate.
