I definitely don't believe in pokies. They create all sorts of social problems.

I am interested to know though why and how Hawthorn create so much revenue through them compared to other clubs. I mean look at the number of venues and machines owned by Carlton.

Where do we get the money to be the biggest spending club in the competition? Why were we the biggest spenders and is there any way or reason that they can or should justify it?

Are the clubs who don't have pokies playing on uneven/unfair terms?

Are you new here?

There is a soft cap on the football spending after the AFL decided it was getting out of hand. Some of the other top spending clubs scaled back and Fremantle kept spending right to the limit, because they thought it was part of a sustained success model.

Fremantle get the money from us because they don't have pokies or very good sponsorship agreements.

Steves has the relative luxury of an un-crowded marketplace to milk sponsors and merch money from.

In Melbourne, they're all fighting to get a slice of the same corporate $, and it's not very forthcoming. Hence pokies.

Hard times even here. Check out the empty corporate boxes opposite, if you sit on the railway rd side. I'll bet they won't be spending as much on feng shui ETAF consultants next year.

I thought most of footy funds came from sponsorships, and games and members of course.
Also remember this was talked about awhile back, revenue from pokies. It was news to me then, and I'll repeat it'seems a dirty way to finance a sporting team.
