The AFL constantly crow about how even the competition is due to their policies of equalization. Let's look at the stats below and you be the judge.
Winning GF teams since 2005:
2005 Sydney Swans
2006 WCE
2007 Geelong
2008 Hawthorn
2009 Geelong
2010 Collingwood
2011 Geelong
2012 Sydney Swans
2013 Hawthorn
2014 Hawthorn
2015 Hawthorn
In that same time only three teams not on the above list challenged for a Gf, they were Port Adelaide, Saint Kilda and Fremantle. Hmmmmmm

It's not an everyone gets a premiership policy. Several teams get up at the same time and one of them wins the flag.

Fremantle have been in contention in 2006, 2010 and 2013 but weren't good enough.

Something would appear to be amiss there. I am too lazy to do the research but ireckon the wooden spoon stats would read similarly.
Given that the AFL is pursuing equalisation they appear to be failing in that pursuit.

Exactly ..Hawthorn made over 11 million last year from pokies, it is irrefutable according to stats that 40% of this comes from those in the community that can least afford to lose it. Alcoholism, domestic violence are all depressingly sad follow ons from what these things cause. Hawthorn have used these monies for within their football department for gear upgrades etc. And...we have a club going for a four-peat being lauded like they are messiahs. Equalisation ...It would be all so laughable if it was not so despicable.

It's a disgrace Corporal. We (rightly so...) talk about the tainted 2006 flag but if you read in to it you could start to make similar cases for last few...its dirty money.

Have a look at the ladder for pokies revenue, of almost 100 million lost in Victoria ( at club associated venues) Hawthorn almost gain 25% ..:
