TOPIC: Mid Year Review

i totally agree Corporal that Spurr has been really quite solid, and i don't think Ballas has had the best season on record, but mediocre seems a bit tough. Alex Pearce was starting to show some more than promising signs, and Crozier has been excellent since his move back. And i think Hill has been pretty solid also.
i do agree though that there have been some of the more senior players who are looking way out of sorts. Which is a shame when the young ones are regularly showing them up in terms of pressure and execution. Too many of the boys shine when we win, and look like they lack endeavour when the game is slipping away.

Also thought harsh on Spurr and Hill and even Mayne who despite his kicking issues has been satisfactory I think.
Some of the NA's could possibly be assessed as poor also. Morabito for mine as much as I hate to say it now fits into this category because of his inability to get his body right, should be noted that this is clearly not of his own doing. Shane Yarran should also go on this list because of his lack of discipline on return from injury particularly given our current injury list.

Shane Yarran lack of discipline? Jesus talk about a Tsunami in a saucer, the bloke got a move on caution didn't move on and then was arrested for disorderly conduct. About 100 of these get issued in Northbridge on a Friday or Saturday night depending on where you happen to be, luck of the draw. I have seen first hand people issued with these notices, then ask why they have to move on (and not the fifty or so other people in the same area), get asked to move on, then again ask the Police why and end up getting the cuffs slapped on into the wagon charged with disorderly conduct. Its a misdemeanour fine that you don't even have to go to court for. Lets put it into context, Brad Hill from the Hawks this year has been charged with driving unlicensed and assault, both worse crimes than what Shane was charged with yeah? What have the Hawks done about it? Nothing there official line is he has been punished enough through the courts system. Why cant we show the same sense and keep our guys on the field, especially when we have so many injuries and the need is so great?

He has no credit in the bank is coming off injury and the club already taken risk in recruiting him given his history. Or let's just let everybody do what they want. Eagles style

So once a crim always a crim eh? I was under the impression he had done his time for his previous indiscretions. Also what does "credits in the bank" have to do with anything? Are we saying if he was a great player like say Cuzzy we could look the other way because of his game credits. He has already been punished for an extremely minor infraction and reported to the club as soon as he could. Nothing Eagles like in any of that scenario at all.
Why do we feel the need to belt him over the head with a baseball bat when the courts have already done their thing. Maybe we should just lock him in a cell, let him out to train and play that will keep him on the straight and narrow.

Why the love in for Yarran, let's deal with the reality of what he has achieved, I just think sometimes our hopes and dreams for a player over reach the reality of what that player offers. Yarran may be a very good player for us but this is a long way from a done deal and may never eventuate. My point was a player coming off injury with zero games could possibly be graded as a poor year.
