Come on. I may not have expected to win but I and i don't think even you, I hope expected to get blown away by a side that has as many if not more young and inexperienced players as us.
Friday night? So what! Is that a night when you don't expect to win?
First time at the MCG? Can't win because of that either? What about first time at the SCG, Adelaide Oval, etc? Next game will be the first time for a lot of them in Darwin. Another reason not to win?
And what's the excuse for serial non performers who have been around for ages. e.g. Suban,Mayne, Clarke, Pearce

Not sure what I expected. But a game of football was the least I could have hoped for.

Unfortunately, same old same old for the last 3 years.
Mayne misses crucial gimmes from 30 in front.
Our backline switch, then instead of going forward into the corridor, go further back, lose momentum and turn it over.
Pav and Tabs no separation, continually spoiling each other.
No crumbers on the odd occasion when a forward presents.
Ballas the leading tall forward instead of crumbing
8 Dockers converge on the ball, leaving the outside free.
100 little one percenters they never do.
I really hate to say this but the bulk of it, is coaching.
We never score from our defensive 50 and we are even worse at scoring from our clearances that we do win.
Sandi, Fyfe, Bennell Griffin will help of course but unless we fix up this terrible way we take our options and fix up this ball hunting we do, we wont win the big one.

When you are forward of the centre square, a kick away from putting it into their 50, why the hell would you kick it back, then back again into our 50, see an inexperienced defender fumble it, and then Collinwood have a shot on goal?

Dumbest football I've seen.

Just about every team does that Drubbing, it's to break-up the zoning that the other team has set-up flooding back, so you get a chance to switch to the other side of the ground to attack. The major problem is initially the speed of transition that caused that situation to arise and then not nailing the skills to do it effectively.

I know why it's done, but 2 kicks to give up 75m, and instead of attacking, be defending? It's dumb.

Yes, TV doesn't show us how how zoned the forward 50 was, but players should be creating space in the midfield, so they don't have to kick back, and they hold their ground. There is no reason to kick back to your own defensive zone, when you've had enough trouble getting out of there for virtually all the bloody game.

It is dumb.

totally agree Drubbing.
A ball on half back under pressure you have only two options.
1) kick it down the line to advantage of the leading player who either marks, or takes it out of bounds for a stoppage.
2) Switch: you should only switch if after the first disposal to the fat side you can then "take grass" (new Roly speak) play on and either kick it to a leading player into space or better still back into the corridor, this time forward of the middle.

IN NO SITUATIONS do I see a case to then kick it another 40 m back to our full back line. This is what Dennis Commetti would call the third of two options. Its ridiculous, common for the Dockers, totally frustrating and basically, the coaches fault.

The Dockers crowd can see it and universally let up a huge moan, why cant Roly see it?

Also why was Taberner around the midfield stoppages center field, when we won the ball there was no one to kick it to. This is another perenial problem where we "lose our structure forward of the ball".

FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I could tell Taberner was doing his level best to be as far away from the ball as possible. He was forward when he should have been up the group and up the ground when he should have been providing a forward option.

Claudia Schiffer in her prime never got out of bed for less than $10,000 a day. Tabs shouldn't get out of bed when it's sub 10 degrees.

Tabs repeatedly went up for marks and competed and deliberately brought the ball down in front of him, front and square. Presumably this is what he has been told to do and quite good tactics in slippery conditions. I thought he was OK.

No one there to rove.
Instead Walters and Ballas trying to take speccies.

Its not rocket science.

Gotta cut tabs some slack regarding the weather. Up until this season whenever it was wet he was either the late change or the fastest candidate for the red vest you have ever seen.

It's poorly executed perhaps and maybe the wrong option at the time (and I will admit it does make me wince if I see it), but properly done it's a legitimate play in trying to draw out the flooding players from the forward line into the newly created space.

'Taking grass' - I like it. Sure, why not - form a circle and share it around. It's not performance enhancing, or is it? It would certainly settle some nerves in the back half of the ground. 'Taking grass'... yep, that's a good plan - Larkin could be the 'taking grass' coach. You gotta earn it to take it, score a goal and it's off to the bench to 'take some grass', a quick squizzle of Gatorade, and then back out onto the paddock.
