I was at the game on Saturday and noticed security guards at the gates scanning punters upon entrance. I may or may not have had a hip flask in my pocket which I may or may not have had to stash in a bush on Roberts Rd.

I was at the Round 9 Richmond game and didn't see any such affront to common decency commitment to the responsible service of alcohol. How long has it been going on?

I got caught out at the Giants game. He wss very apologetic about it.

If you were going to get up to some sort of terror activity, a Fremantle v GWS game in Perth is probably not the best choice of target. You'd probably even have to explain to Allah who they are and where you did it.

I think they've probably been there all the time but they're not exactly excited by their assigned task, so if you don't see them, they don't see you.

They might have been hanging around at the finals last year too.

They have been there since NAB. On that occasion everyone in the queue got scanned. Now it's random and they usually go for the over 55's as they don't complain as much.

They only use the scanners in games where Jonathon Brown isn't commentating.

His head has been known to set them off at any stage of the game and from a distance of 100+ metres.

He's sent Tullamarine airport into full lock down mode on more than one occasion.

I'm guessing pointless, that you are a youngster... I'll have you know there are many over 55's still active, have all their own teeth, hair and faculties and are even able to feed themselves :D

P.S. Take a plastic clear cup (or 'borrow' one from the bar saying you need it for water), take wine in a plastic flask, when they spot you, it just looks like you've bought it from the stadium :) just watch out when re-filling...

I hadn't seen them before, but it seemed they were doing all the corporates along Roberts Rd but was pretty random at Gate 19.
At Gate 19, they had bag-check lanes and "express" lanes. But then put the scanners on the "express" lane so it was no longer "express"

I saw the corporate metal detectorist the other week, behind the glass enclosure. He looked a lot more charismatic than the people they send out to scan the rest of us plebs.
