Mayne is one of those rare individuals unfortunate enough to have been born in tune with the wrong hemisphere's coriolis effect. Many remedies have been tried for this over the years since it was first noted back on the HMS Beagle and initially diagnosed as scurvy... including the force feeding of fresh lemons, hot lime juice enemas and hanging inverted over a bathtub full of water while chanting the words to In A Gadda Da Vita and spinning in the same direction as the water draining from the bath...
( the last is a personal favourite of mine and many a pleasant Friday ni... I digress)
logic suggests, captain, that the crowd take it upon themselves to throw lemons at Mayne while he lines up a shot, chanting In A Gadda Da Vita. It might just work, but if it doesn't it'll be hell funny all the same.
