TOPIC: Think twice

I still think that ZC after Sandilands is our best ruckman....he's still 26, although Griffin can be valuable we have limited options in that position....I would definitely renew Zack Clarks contract

If you want to compare impact and statistics, Clarke was rucking againstr Trengrove, who normally plays as a defender but has been thrown into the ruck because port doesnt have anyone else. They split possessions around the ground, the only clear advantage was clarke won an extra 20 odd hit outs. It is what you would expect somewhat of any recognised ruckman against someone like trengrove. Next week though is a challenge with either of grundy witts or cox. I still thought there were a number of opportunities where Clarke could have made a lead on the wing and would have been the perfect link up player but he just jogged through the middle.

Clark started slow. Very slow. First quarter, hit outs were more or less even.

He worked his way into the game, though. Last quarter was solid. I'd be happy giving him next week to see if he can take it up another notch still.

Clarke did stand up in the last quarter. He still has either a concentration or fitness problem though. In the first 3 quarters there were quite a few occasions when with the effort he showed in the last quarter he would have got to and had an impact on the play. It is this trait that frustrates many Freo supporters.

I thought D Pearce was again solid, and Taberner followed up his game against the Lions with another good performance. He is starting to use his body more in the contests, and using strength to get the ball out of congestion.

Sandilands 34 ,Griffin 30, Hannath 24 but is he good enough??that is it....givin how long it takes to develop tall key footballers....at 26 Zack Clarck has still lots of improvement in him

He has heaps of improvement in him and that's part of the problem in my view. After 7 or 8 years in the system and training with one of the best ruckman going around we are still talking about potential and improvement.
Not much point in drafting ruck prospects if that is going to be the time frame. Might as well feed off other teams sloppy seconds.
I can't see Clarke ever leading Freo's ruck and that's a disappointing outcome for 7 years of investment - dodgy knees or not.

Except Hendrix has already lead our ruck for a prolonged period a few years ago and did it very well to the point everyone was questioning whether Sandi should retire or be traded to Gold Coast/GWS.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

7yrs might seem long but Watts has only just come good in his 8th year and he was a no1 pick albeit as a forward but he is another tall who has taken forever to mature and hasn't had the knee trouble Clarke has had.

Griffin was a replacement in those days as well, and I think he may have been the catalyst for the "Sell Sandi" movement.

That "Sell Sandi" movement must have been a splinter group that was an offshoot of a sect that broke away from the readers comments section of a Kim Hagdorn article.

Saturday morning Hagdorn was claiming that he was 'hearing' (probably from the voices in his head) that Fyfe was interested in a move to Victoria and a direct swap for Hogan and a top pick was an option at the end of this season. Apparently 'Millsy' had heard the same thing.
I put it straight in the 'Neale will sign with Nth Melbourne' basket.

So we will see Priddis swapped for Hogan, and then Freo will offer our round 4 draft pick to the eagles for Hogan. They will accept the trade and all our problems will be solved. Hackdorn is a genius.
