Update to my last, looks like WADA will be going after Dank rather than the Essendon club (although if Dank throws Essendon under a bus who knows where that will finish). Essendon still may have financial issues if banned players sue for loss of income and damage to reputation/future earnings etc. Doesn't look like this is going away for Essendon just yet.

What's the point of punishing a club for years on end. If you get rid of the coaches and administrators, and you ban the players, you're essentially just punishing the supporters.

Got it ROTV, just sayin if Dank somehow implicated the Essendon club/admin and they were found guilty of something new (hypotheticals I know) and given the club is pretty much broke, draft selections may be the only option if it became necessary to go that way.

As for continual punishment, we are talking about a player group who still believe they have done nothing wrong, a club who say they have been part of a great injustice and a players association who's answer to a club being caught out, is to cut ties with the anit-doping bodies. I don't think the message has got through at all.

I think you let whoever's last get the first draft pick. When Carlton was pinged for its salary cap indiscretions, it got fined & had draft restrictions placed on them. What happened afterwards? They subsequently went carp & picked up Gibbs, Murphy & Kreuzer as No.1 picks.

As fun as it is kicking their club when they're down, they've already copped their AFL punishment. Whether that punishment was enough for what was committed is a different story... personally I think the AFL were too quick to be seen to do something at the time (and put some distance between the situation and Eyebrows' involvement with it).

Anyway there's no guarantee that Essendon will be any good next year with the banned players back, especially with a coach like Woosh! Look at what's happened to us this year!

Nah, they are not finished with their punishment, they can't be allowed to profit from their cheating by getting a first pick in the draft. At best they should drop to 8th pick. They cheated the system, and now want the system to help them back up the ladder.
