I sure hope the long term plan is to have Weller as an outside running mid as much as Roly allows an outside running mid. He has pace to burn and pretty good kick that will hopefully get up to Mundy standard. Weller has more to offer than running down slow backmen.

Not saying Weller doesn't deserve it. It's just that a Rising Star nomination is a sympathy hug crossed with a 'look a bear'.

The RS nomination is a great achievement. If Weller gets the nod, and I think he should, then he's a chance of winning it this year. I liked Tucker's game as well. It means we've got some good young players that can perhaps be help us achieve the ultimate.

You're quite right - I love our young guys and reckon they'll be guns.

I simply find the RS nominations to be slightly baffling based on actual form each week, and my guess is that part of the AFL decision-making process must be to ask: which team needs a good-news story this week?

Just bracing myself for when Weller gets dudded.
