Interesting article on the AFL website today.

www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-08/strike-on...he-afls-punching-bag

GWS' Phil Davis is on all time record pace to become the most 'victimised' player in AFL history. Opposition players have been cited 4 times this season for striking the GWS co-coin tosser. The current record is jointly held by Wanganeen, Rhys-Jones and Wheeler at five.

Scouring the other tables shows that Stevie J (15), J. Selwood (14) and Sam Mitchell (13) are the on course leaders for most times on the receiving end. Although Ballas has a clear lead in 'strikee-rate' (a very impressive 11 in only 132 games).

The all time 'strikee' leader remains David Rhys-Jones with 18. DR-J also holds the record for most Tribunal appearances as the defendant (25).

When the Slime and the Bears joined the VFL, DR-J was given his own parking bay outside the Tribunal. Prior to this the league was surviving on the parking fines clocked up by DR-J parking his ute in the ACROD bay outside VFL headquarters on Tuesday nights.

One name which leaps off the page is Chris Bond. A victim 12 times in 163 games. At that rate he was more punchable than everybody else on the list bar Ballas and DR-J...and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe we should rookie list Bond. Give him a chance to break the record.

The line would form outside his door and stretch half way down the Freo strip.

Can you be reported for hitting a teammate as he is lacing up his boots in the changeroom???

I seem to recall an incident where one of the slime players threw a tennis ball at Kennedy'ees eye keeping him out of the game for months. It was all done prankster style of course and everyone laughed a lot, well all except one bloke. No Charge, no report so it seems as long as you just playing around in change rooms and there is lots of laughter, its open slather.

One of the slime (Shepherd, I think) punched Nicnat in the eye on the weekend. Pretty sure it would have been reportable if Nicnat was a bulldog.

I'm pretty sure David Batty, playing for Newcastle at the time I think, punched one of his team mates in a European tie being played in Russia. Not sure he got suspended, but probably.

If only those stats included number of times punched in a nightclub, team room or training session by your team mate.

Old Daniel 'Littlefinger' Chick would romp it in.

Mellors, it was a 1995/6 European Champions League game between Blackburn and Spartak Moscow, in Moscow. Not long after the start, Graeme Le Saux and David Batty collided on the touch line, going for the same loose ball. They 'exchanged words', with Batty apparently taunting Le Saux about his (alleged) sexuality, and Le Saux then punching Batty, before the Blackburn team captain, Tim Sherwood, was able to split them up.
Not the sort of thing that happens in a civilised team sport like AFL.
