There's a great deal of press about how Freo fans acknowledged Creepy. It's hard to generalise across all the fans, but to me, it reflected a perfect storm of emotions:
1. Over the years, Creepy has been one player who has often and outwardly professed his love for the club and for what it's done for him as a person and as a player; the whole 'almost gone, resurrection as a tagger' thing.
2. Freo supporters never got a chance to give him a proper goodbye at the end of 2015
3. Creepy acknowledged on more than one occasion that he did a silly thing in getting banned in 2015; he didn't duck the issue, he acknowledged what he did and did a mea culpa (contrast that with the Weagles)
4. Over the years, his character has been slighted by other players who we know are liars (think: Harvey, Masten) and normal human beings don't like that sort of thing.
Anyway, that's why I stood up and cheered. Wasn't one reason, it was many.
