I'm with Shane on another thread. It's all very well giving out some little glib message about not being happy with the summer, but so far that's all we've heard and the only reason for this year so far.
No-one is being held accountable or responsible and we just go from week to week being expected to accept the losses we're copping, with a keep your chin up, devil may care, she'll be right in the end attitude.
I like many thought those days were long gone but we are back to a laughing stock again.

And don't just blame the injuries!

Hmm, Sandilands with broken ribs, Fyfe with broken leg, A.Pearce with broken leg, Bennell with calf injuries, Johnno with knee/hamstring injuries, plus too many others to list, but let's not blame injuries. ... why not??? ... because that's not popular and it belittles some of the other unfounded and unsupported finger pointing around here???

My greatest frustration this season is that I feel the need to remind people that no team in the today's modern AFL can overcome those sort of injuries to their A-Graders. Sometimes the simplest explanation is a legitimate explanation.

Correct DK. I think can probably take A Pearce out of that list as damage was done by time he was out. But could add in Mundy who has been more out than in. Take out like for like NicNot, Priddis, Huey, Kennedy and let's say McGovern and Slime are sitting down in bottom half. Try excercise for every club and result will be similar.

Aside from this it does expose our lack in areas but again missing your top five will do this. In a way if we can fix up these areas, in year or three we might come to appreciate this year for shining the torch on what needed fixing.

I said JUST the injuries. We haven't won A game. There are plenty of other sides with injury problems and they actually are on the board.
You saw us at 0-10 hey even with who we have out? The club would accept the injuries as the only cause for concern you reckon?
Of course they can't overcome these injuries completely but I would have thought they would at least be on the board by now even with four A grade players out, especially considering two of them have been out for extended lengths of time previously and we were more than able to compensate for them.
My greatest frustration is people with rose coloured glasses who think that all is peachy keen except for injuries.

Send the hawthorn spuds back to melbourne and pay overs to get Kirk back to freo. Injuries are no excuse, we got belted by Carton & Gold Coast at home due to pathetic, sub standard skills. The board stuffed up by giving Lyon 5 years too early, he relaxed, didn't do the work and the results are what we see. Then reward Pearce, a 29 year old who coughs it up more each week than an emphysema sufferer, with a 2 year contract. Time to clear out all the old wood, play the kids and rebuild.

No doubt contract talks started well before but I'm fairly sure preseason starts before 3 March when Lyons contract renewal was announced. Sounds like he showed some trust in some people employed to 'assist' him and that failed badly. If he's managed to annoy everyone around him he won't last long.

I'd don't think all the snapper in Kailis fisheries and the Newport pub would bring Kirk back to Fremantle. If he'd wanted to stay he'd still be here.

Blocker, I reckon the injuries comparison with Slimes last years falls short. Major difference I see is that they lost couple of big guys down back for the season early, they adapted (and ok, let's give them something...: reasonably well) with the Slime "Web" and yes got results. They did not however lose a All Australian ruckman, Brownlow Medallist competition star, captain and one of the comps best midfielders, All Australian backmen and a future midfield star. Can't compare the two situations.

Yes there are clearly other issues but geez surely this would hit anyone.
