I would take some guidance from a bloke coaching his 15th game in Bolton. I would recognize that military type accountability only holds up for a short period of time and then it collapses. I would create a learning environment for the young blokes where their mistakes on game day are treated as improvement opportunities. I would make it safe to speak up and not smash people when they don't meet my expectations. I would assess whether my expectations were realistic. I would not drop insecure developing players after one game. I would ask my direct reports for feedback on what I was like to work with.
