What is it about the Eagles that they always have to take things too far. Gaff gets knocked out so, fair enough, a bit of a melee ensues but, because it's the Eagles, they turn a bit of roughing up into an old school take him out back and kick him to death.



Then, instead of accepting that they went too far in their response and copping the fines, they want the rules changed to allow for their lack of perspective.

Check out Yeo. First on the scene but all he does is bump Jonas, which Jonas barely notices. Yeo then stands back until another Egirl puts Jonas on the deck. Once he's down Yeo goes back in on top of him.

Hard to know how good the hit was when Gaff is involved.
I think I saw a little bit of icing sugar puff up on contact.

Ballas would have used the distraction of the melee to bounce back up, play on kick the goal and then come back to the fuss and try to stir the pot in hope of getting another shot on goal.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

You just can't picture the umpire saying "Andrew..... Aaaanndrew... Aaaannnndddrrrreeeewwwww No Andrew" can you, but Ball'as would not have gone down like that, or the way that diver from Richmond hit the ground. It did bring a moment of brightness to the day however.

It will be another case of a player suffering a season ending behind the play hit according to "medical reports and witness statements" and then he will come out and play his usual seagull role next week.

Jonas should get off on the technicality that he had no reasonable expectation that Gaff would be that close to a contest.

Love the way Basil & co have carried on about the eagles drought breaking away from home win.

I think Adam Simpson and the Eagles should plead the, "I didn't know we were in a melee", defence.

Fair go - it was a big hit and I think Simpson was trying to say that it was the sort of melee that usually happens in any game, when a player is put down, and his team mates remonstrate. If a Dockers player had taken that hit, and other Dockers players hadn't bothered to get involved, there would be hundreds of posts, on this forum and elsewhere, accusing them of being soft. Or worse.

The Richmond players appropriately remonstrated with Dawson and none of them will be fined.

The Eagles players knocked Jonas down, piled on top of him and then dragged him along the ground over to the fence. When he got to his feet they nearly through him into the concrete boundary. It was dangerous.

They deserve to be fined and they should be more careful in the future.

I'm all for hating the Eagles but what Jonas did was a dog act. The response seemed quite appropriate, as much as I hate seeing Eagle players trying to be "tough". If it was a rugby match Jonas wouldn't be able to walk for a month. A bit of push and shove in the AFL is bordering on embarrassing to watch. Handbags at the ready.
