I actually fear for us a bit. This might take some time to get off the canvas. Today's monsoon can plaster over the cracks of worst crowd since 2001 but what happens at next home game if it's fine and we lose to Essendon, I reckon next home game after that will see crowd cracking the teen figures not seen since way back then. As mentioned by someone here last week, you don't even see the Steves walk the northern boundary in the second half these days...God, maybe they didn't even bother to show up tonight.
Big difference I think we have is that we have dropped so quickly and none of us were prepared for that after the highs of last few years. I reckon, not to sell the membership and fans short, is that these days as a collective, people are much more fickle and less hardy. There is a 100 things that people can do rather than watch crap footy and Gen Y, Z or whatever they are called these days will jump off a winner quicker than our marketing arm can send out a crap tweet. Other generations might just follow with them.
A lot of us here remember sitting on the grass banks of the WACA getting belted semi frequently and not even questioning not going to do it again a fortnight later. I don't think it's the same anymore and the club wants to watch out because having a nice new fancy ETAF next year might not bring them back. Only wins will and they might be some time away.
