Ease up people. While I thought I was silly fronting up to the game last night, given the monsoon we had, it game me perspective. I'm a footy tragic and FFC is my team. It's a marriage. For better and for worse and all that jazz. So there is a get out clause and that's called a divorce. But I'm no quitter so I'll make sure it's death till we part.

By no means do I think that this is the worse in our history but our current malaise can be summed up in one late passage of play when Capt Mundy was clear at half forward and just need to hit up a free Pav about 20m away and 35m straight in front of he goals - Mundy kicked it over Pav's head?!!

I know we have been smashed by injuries but I simply cannot fathom how we completely lost our basic skills. Unable to hit targets by foot or hand, and when we do get hold of it our idea of 'spreading' the ball is to handball it back into congestion and/or to a player either under more pressure or flat-footed.
I wonder what the odds are for us to go winless this season as I do not see us winning a game at this rate.

Worst team in our history?
It's hard to say.
Even in the difficult days of our history there was Cliiive, there was Willsyyyee and there was even Dan Parker, there was the anchor ceremony, the mexicanwave, our first final against essendon - we lost and we still felt like winners cheering our boys back onto the field for one last cheerio until next time.
Then the steves came along and changed more than the jumper promising sustained success - we hoped - we wanted to believe and then RL came along. It wasn't a clean move - poor Harves we all felt the knives.... but the messiah had come.
When effort was required we put backsides on seats and the boys ran like crazy up and down the field it wasn't always pretty but the rest of the afl took notice of how we demolished Sydney at subiaco to make our first ( and only) GF.
We all know what happened next: minor premiers and a brownlow medalist.
What's next?
I don't know. I can tell you that I feel like I've endured long term pain for short term gain.

Let's also remember the intrinsic unfairness of the AFL competition. Sitting in the Antarctica gale at Subi Oval on Saturday night, wondering what's happened to the team I had such faith in, I finally realised that I've been right all along. Success seems to be, more or less, about who's in and who's out with the hierarchy.

I showed up on Sat night, and watched all our away games on TV. I haven't noticed any drop off in effort or intensity. I've come to the conclusion that this year, we are just c-a-r-p, carp. The effort's there - just ask poor Alex Pearce who ran headlong into a contest in which he broke his tibia. They're trying, and trying hard.

It may or may not be the worst freo side in history, but history counts for nothing in sport. I have to agree with freo2005 however in that our stoppage and contested ball structures are rubbish. So often I see 2 or 3 blokes tackling and no one manning up on the outside. Also our defensive structure has to go man on man with players that can win one on one. Our zones are being sliced to pieces with fast overlap footy and precise ball movement. Hard to see a way out of this rut till next year.
