And yet another calf injury! This is bloody ridiculous. We need a Royal Commission at the very least. Whatever drongo changed whatever training drill that is resulting in all these busted calves needs to be identified so we can institute a class action to sue them for the cost of this year's membership.

We now have a higher rate of calf injuries than the old Midland Abattoir.

Luckily for Hughes he appears to have the less serious 3 week injury. His season would have been over if he had suffered the deadly 2 week variety (Gumby's hammy was classified as 2 weeks for about 20 weeks...then he retired...still injured).

Fre-doh. Complete recruiting disasters aside, Gumby did come back and play half a dozen games in the WAFL in 2014 midseason - so while I accept the appeal of the narrative about the unreliability of our medical prognostications, I'm doubting the perpetual two weeks thing on the injury list actually occurred.

Yes Gumby played 6 games mid season 2014, with a rest between the last 2 games. He kicked a total of 5 goals before suffering a back and then hamstring injury before retiring.

It actually makes no sense to have the kids playing until they have the game plan down pat and have reached appropriate skill, strength and fitness levels. This isn't the under twelves, you need more than potential upside to get out there. They aren't being held out for some malicious or stupid reason - they need to be able to do what's required. Everyone is working to get them up the level required. Injuries and need to rebuild might lower the requirements but they don't eliminate them.
