Mayne has about 3 good years left in the type of role he plays. He will earn more in this time at North and will play finals.

I reckon it would be a win-win-win for Freo, Mayne and North given the stage each team and Mayne are at.

KingKepler, North are in contention to win a flag this year, there's no guarantees that they will next year and their list is virtually as old as Freo's. Plus we'll have a year of time into the youngest sections of our list by next year so possibly be more advanced (KPP's not withstanding). Plus North have a fair number of forward options. I reckon if Mayne were to go anywhere, he could do worse than to someone like Gold Coast, where he'd be more likely to get a regular gig and he could add some steel to their forward line with his grunt work and allow their silk to flourish.

If Mayne moves it will be as an unrestricted free agent. The thing in our favour might be the compensation. There is some discussion that due to his likely salary our compensation will be a 2nd round pick. Likely a pick in the low 20s
