I usually go to SD games as I help out two guys who scout for potential draftees..
Anyway I took some notes on the game on the weekend as I was keen to see a few of the younger guys at freo in the flesh and a couple of SF young fellas.
Collins...Huge body, must play soon, strong overhead, reads play well, aggressive, bad kick late across goal - dragged!
Tucker - Silky, star, covers ground easy, reads play well, good tank, star
Grey - solid, hard, went to Hams at 3 qtr time on about 35 possies and completely shut him down
Uebergang - big body, reads play well, strong over head, seems quick, needs more fitness, has a future
Tanner Smith - not sure why he is on a AFL list??
Apeness - 2 big strong grabs, half fit, seems tentative at times, not a great kick at goal.....
I didnt take much notice of De Boer & Barlow as TBH I expected them to get plenty of it..
Bit disappointed in Barlows comments to teammates at 3 qtr time huddle sledging SF "part timers and 150 game WAFL heroes" that he expected to fold when it got hot - dont have the commitment and ticker etc etc...hmmm
Hannath - Now for what its worth, I know the SF ruckman very well. To say he enjoys himself outside of footy is a understatement. Pre seasons spent socialising and 3-4 nights a week out mid season are not uncommon.
I have seen him develop from a skinny athletic basketballer to a good old fashioned WAFL player.
I went there expecting Hannath and Apeness to give him a bath. Well it didnt eventuate and he got better when it counted.
So if he can compete and beat AFL Listed players with all their full time advantages - we really are in trouble when Sandi retires.
PS - Shloithe is still a peanut and will get seriously hurt one day either from himself ducking or stirring up the wrong bloke....Collins was going to strangle him at one stage
