TOPIC: Z Clarke

we have to have another backman or player who can actually mark and spoil in a contest... like playing ibbo on gunston yesterday was a joke...he was shoulder high to gunston... not his role...as we are experimenting to find anyone who can mark , handball and kick straight over 5 metres to his own teammate, collins will have to play sometime soon.... like to see him in against richmond..

And if Zac D had played on Sicily instead of Ethan Hughes, Sicily wouldn't have had a day out.

Zac Clarke is a little scared of the contest - jumps out of the way a fair bit, I am hoping with his rugby background Apeness will enjoy the bash and crash of ruck work.. Richmond have quite a few talls so Sam Collins is some chance to come in although Ross said Suma told him he isn't ready didn't he? Anyway I would mind him coming in especially against a big slow gorilla

I don't get this not ready thing. If that's the case how come they gave Tucker two games earlier this year.

I don't think a couple of games for Collins in a year like we're having is going to really hamper his development. Aren't we supposed to be seeing what our youngsters are like? It's not like he's some raw 18 yr old recruit. He's 22 and been playing VFL.

Play him!

I agree Collins should now play. Its essential to see what the Pearce/Collins spine might look like. Why waste time?
We have to make a few assumptions and an actual plan. Everyone wants success now but lets be realistic. We need to be bottom this year and really, much as I hate to say it, bottom again next year. As we gave away this years second round draft pick, we are really not going to pick up too much at the draft this year.

I know I am going to be howled down here but..... There are no good KPPs in the top ten this year so I would pick up a Petrevski seton type midfielder type with our first pick ......to replace Fyfe in the middle. With our third pick go for a tall. Leave McCarthy for another year.
Second year get more talls and pick up McCarthy for free. That gives us Fyfe at Centre Half forward, Tabs and McCarthy with Bennell, Yarran and Ballantyne. That's a good forward line I would think.
Midfield would be the top midfielder drafted this year, whoever that may be, Walters, Weller, Hill, maybe Blakely.
Back line has Collins and Pearce as the anchors.
Third year we challenge
Year Four we go for a flag.
Trying to do it any quicker than that and we will fall short again.

If we try for a second class tall with our first pick this year and he is no good, that means we have to leave Fyfe in the middle. We know he would be just about the best CHF in the comp, its the hardest position to recruit for and we have a ready made one. I know he is probably even better in the midfield but midfielders are easier to find.

PS basically no one who is NOT going to be in the 2020 Dockers Premiership side should be playing ie The Fist, Barlow etc. Pav and Johnno should be eased out with dignity and class of course but this is the track we have to be on. I am happy if Roly wants to play Sheridan and Sutcliffe purely to increase their trade value at the end of the year though.

Rh, more or less agree except that once a team completely implodes it seems to take a couple of extra years to get going. Youth policy is ok, but getting crushed is not good policy. We really want some strong bodies and experience in the team.

Adw freo thank goodness someone started this thread. I needed a couple of days to breathe out after another insipid, disinterested and disheartening display by ZC.

Why he was selected is beyond me. I actually thought we had turned a corner when he was left out for the previous match.

I can only think he had organised a stopover in the east to visit family, and we thought we would help him out by paying part of his fare. He certainly didn't earn the full cost of his flight.

Of those mighty 5 possessions, none (zero, zilch, bubkiss, SFA) came in the last quarter when we had the wind at our backs.

That should be his final parting gift to we, the long suffering docker die hards ..

Zac c has frustrated us for way to long now.
Funny, I thought he was competing and making more of a contest against the Hawks than his normal piss weak efforts.
He will be gone next year and Apeness will be in as soon as he is match ready.
Chalk and cheese really, one has the fire in the belly and it ain't Zachary!
