Surely that has to be his last chance? Give someone (anyone) with an ounce of hardness or desire a game in front of him. Had 5 possessions which is actually an improvement on other lamentable performances.
Don't care if we go in with one ruck - just find someone who looks like they want to be there!

Surely that has to be the final straw, play hannath for the next couple of weeks and once apeness has got through a month of WAFL he will come in and play the forward/ruck role that we are desperate for. That would probably coincide around the same time sandilands is due back though.

From memory, has clarke ever had a super game when playing as the 2nd ruck? Seems his best matches came when he was solo rucking.

I think we will have to work a trade, we will get more out of a trade than letting him go to FA.

I'm not much for scapegoating to be honest, but we are a far better side being 100% Zac free. If we have to get rid of someone next year - culling seems a certainty - despite being rubbish, he is a big bloke and pretty agile with it, and would be a sought after commodity without us losing anything of value that we haven't got the equal of or better in the ranks. At least Hannah looks like he is putting in, and he seems happy to use his bulk effectively, something Zac seems unable to do.

But the laziness and loping was the same trait scapegoated at our current captain for many years...

I'm sure he's giving his all. And it doesn't seem to be enough.

As for playing Z Clarke, I think the thinking goes something like this: You are trying to win a game of footy by choosing the best team you think can win.
Or, you are showing off his wares - or his upside/potential - for a future trade.
On recent performances, I'm not sure Zac’s trade value is not rising, but there’s probably upside for another club to be interested.

Surely it is largely about showing his "wares" to the other teams. It would be surprising that someone like Lyon would tolerate such a lack of effort. His value is potential only. Let him show his potential elsewhere.

Hard to see many being interested, we currently sit bottom of the ladder with gaping hole in the ruck and is unable to provide anything substantial to our 22.
As far as potential, this could be spoken of when being held out of the team by an AA ruckman. Currently His form in the AFL is demonstrating a lack of ability. There could be mitigating circumstances in the form of a knee injury, this is impossible to know without inside knowledge. He may be soldiering on in trying circumstances, and may deserve a little more tolerance from supporters but doesn't increase his trade value.
I haven't seen much that points to him being a number 1 ruckman, and even less forward/ruckman.
I don't know much about Apeness. I hope he will be able to be the forward/ruck option and we can find somebody to replace Sandi in the not to distant future.
On another topic but related. One of the best ruckman/forwards I have watched recently would be Callum Sinclair. West Coast managed to trade him for Jetta, so apparently all clubs make some poor decisions when trading.

I actually don't see any value in playing him in the 22 if it's the forward/ruck role because he simply can't do it. Either play him as a ruckman and he'll get 30 odd hit outs a game or play him at peel where he'll get 40 plus. It's not adding trade value if he gets 10 hit outs 4 possessions and no goals as the forward/ruck

I like Sam collins who despite not getting many possessions holds a lot of marks. We currently have no one who can hold a mark in our forward line.
