TOPIC: Jesse Hogan and Slappo

Back page of the Feral Hun today over here in the eastern states has wise old Slappo and the Fatman (Scotty Cummings) advising Hogan to stay at Melbourne so he doesn't have to fly every second week.

Both tools stated that the flying curtailed their careers. Most punters thought hamburgers curtailed Scott Cummings career while Slappo's was cut short by hand bag injuries.

Slappo claimed it was the flying that prevented him from playing 300 games (not the knee reconstruction) when he retired aged 31.

Needless to say the Hun briefly mentions Pav closing in on 350, doesn't mention Cox's 290 games, Sandi's 241 games plus, McPharlaps 256 games (244 with Freo) and Glass jaws 270 games (which puts 134th in the VFL/AFL all time list)

For KPPs these 4 guys have had incredible careers, nor does it mention Mundy on 237 and Johno on 209 .... or Kennedy on 174 and looking likely to be a 250 player if he plays another 3 seasons.

Overall Freo has 9 players in the top 500 of total games played.

Has anyone done any actual research into it?

I reckon we commission a study at the Matthew Pavlich Institute that concludes that the high altitude from regular flights helps aid recovery and prolong careers. Virgin could put some carbon fibre decal on their "sports" planes and charge Victorian football clubs tens of thousands of dollars to go up and come back down again.

Pfft, ex-Eagles warning players about the risk of signing with Freo. Extensive evidence, including police records, demonstrates there's a much higher risk in associating with ex-Eagles.

Hogan will give their advice the short shrift it deserves.

Coming on the heels of yesterday's article where Slappo the All Australian selector gushes about Natanui's amazing form and begs the rest of those overhyped onanists to play dirty and make the most of it... calling their style of play last season as 'almost scary', I venture to suggest it's well past time someone started in on Slappo with a set of 4 or 5 wet jandals mounted on an electric drill at high speed.

just try to imagine how satisfying that would sound.

Pav has 8 more games to 350, after which, he'll hang the boots up. Clearly it'll be his last game and at home. So it'll be a very emotional day when we all will shed a tear or two. Like he's 300th against Geelong, we touched them up and celebrated in style. So which team do we want to play against and witnessed the man whom we've come to know as Sir Pav, for his exploits on and off the field. I like to see the Derby as his last game.

This is going to severely devalue all my 300th game memorabilia, not to mention the 250th and the 200th.

I'm a fool.
