Shane you may well be right, just trying to think out of left field. If GWS continue to have the same year that they are currently having then there will be players that will attract larger offers than they currently receive.
If we are looking seriously at Hogan, he is the marquee player at Melbourne and we will pay massive for him. . I previously thought we would be able to entice Hogan with the possibility of a successful club, but there has been a slight hiccup.I really don't think one top ten pick gets Hogan. Plus 1.5milliom for him 1.2million for Fyfe starts leaving very little for others.
Part of what you say that $600 000 is 2 average players. Maybe GWS need 2 average players, we have these. They will need to make judgement calls on which $600-$800 0000 they retain. They may also want to stay within salary cap with high quality young players on therefore lower wages.
GWS will be kicking themselves for knocking back our very generous offer last year for McCarthy, it may just give us an opportunity to have a reasonable negotiation in which both parties get what they want.
This years draft is apparently light on for KPP and any we get are 4 years off impacting.
I haven't watched much of Patton this year but before his injuries I liked him more than Cameron.
Does this make sense to anyone else?
I realise this is pie in the pie stuff but may provoke more interesting speculation than how we have stuffed everything up.
