We may have nothing of interest to Melbourne to trade (taking Nat Fyfe out of the equation because he is not permitted to be traded) but Hogan is only contracted until 2017. If a deal isn't done this year he potentially walks for nothing. Are Melbourne prepared to take that risk?

You need 8 years of service before reaching restricted free agency, which means Hogan still has a while to go. Even if out of contract, we'd likely need to make a trade.

Have we been paying the full 100% of our salary cap? Apparently we have had a warchest to offer a tall forward so there must be space somewhere.

Remember teams who arent paying full salary cap can backdate it. So if we had a spare 2 mill from previous seasons that could be thrown hogans way without throwing future years out

You've got to wonder when a bloke like Hogan is given special leave to fly home mid season to see family and they say they will continue to do so, then consider what else we have to offer including the new home base and new venue not far around the corner, how hard would it be to convince the guy to come home???
