Overall, I didn't think the umpiring was that bad. Always some stupid decisions, but thought they went both ways at times.

They got a couple of goals early from the 0-6 free kick bonanza, there was Pav's unpaid mark and then a number of illegal disposals including a few by Stevie J (but he's a magician so he couldn't possibly have dropped the pill....) balanced against the charity free kick Mayne got in front of goals at the city end.

On the southern wing there was a clear out of bounds on the full by GWS. The umps deemed it a throw in. In almost the same spot, a deliberate out of bounds against Freo. Weller was running at full pace and couldn't collect it,

I think that was actually called on the full from Weller but in reality it came off his knee. The umpires also need anatomy lessons in order to correctly interpret their decisions.

I agree that #13 had a howler, not necessarily against us (although many were) but in general. As an ex umpire he reminded me of a nervous junior umpire who has just been promoted and doesn't have the confidence in his decisions. These guys end up not giving the ones they should and try to make up for it with ones that aren't there.
