I thought he did really well - in my opinion, better than any of the others that have been trying out the bigs. He wasn't afraid to attempt a contested mark, he was willing to step up and make a decision in congestion and he had a damn good tank.

Top stuff, I rate him pretty high after tonight.

What I saw tonight was a young player willing to have a crack, but with a fistful of fumbles thrown in.

It's ok to have a go at marks - but you have to hold 'em.

I watched the game on tv but Blakely looked like he did some real classy stuff, just needs more time in the bigs. The standouts for me are the 3 from last night Weller, Hughes n Blakely. Hope they get more time in the bigs.

What I like about Hughes is the fact that he will put himself in the contest, no matter where from. You can't teach that, the player has to want to do it . Sure he spilt a mark or 2, and fumbled a couple of times, but so did plenty of other more experienced players from both sides. He also took the game on and showed why ROLY praised him during the week. He has a footy brain, that's enough to work with for a coach.

Ethan will be great, little bit fumbly last night at times, but showed some good signs. I'm really liking the three mentioned last night, but think Brady Grey should never have been dropped. His attack on the ball and at the contest is first class. Once that running capacity gets up there, he will be a gun. With Tucker and Langdon looking sharp also, and Collins continuing his consistent form for the Peelers, there's a real lot to like with our young blokes...

Agree jayvee. Why was Grey dropped? He's a real goer and showed more in two games than Sheridan has for 50?
If it was a swap for Ibbo okay, but he deserves a game in front of Sheridan.

The best thing about watching kids play is that it's easier to focus on the positives. Hughes made some blues that would make Dawson blush, but you can forgive them so long as it's part of the learning process. He looked a goer.

I liked Grey. Again, butchered the footy, but gave it a crack. Given where we are, I'd rather 21 year olds missing targets than 28 year olds.

But if there is a way to get skilled youngsters to Freo that would also be swell. Weller has a touch of class about him, and that extra yard if pace when he needs it. We could use a couple more like him.
