The concern is that he presumably played largely in the ruck given his hit out numbers, but we need him as a forward. Given he is coming back from a long lay off, surely playing him forward would be better/easier than the ruck. We need forwards!! Hello.

While sandi is still out we need a ruck/foward more than anything else right now, if he can play that role better than Clarke and Hannath he gets a gig. If he kicks 2-3 goals a game in that role we look to keep him in the team as a forward when sandi comes back.

I did notice that but playing an injury prone young bloke who is hopefully going to be a big part of our forward line, in the ruck, seems odd.

No doubt we have ruck issues without Sandi, but I'm not sure that Apeness is the answer for both of our problems ie. Ruck without Sandi and/or forward line for last 5 years

Fair point, maybe they thought playing forward in the reserves wouldn't tell them much about either his fitness levels or his ability to win the contested ball/marks.

Agree though it would have been easier to start him off forward.

Noticed that Collins kicked a goal for peel, anyone know how much time he spent forward?

Spud, have you ever seen how Peel Rezzies go..lose usually by about 10 goals a game and average about 6 or so goals a game. If Apeness played forward all day for 'em the only thing he would catch is a cold.

At least having Clarke in the side lets Griffen go forward and he is a very good contested mark.

But no, drop Clarke so Griffen ends up in the backline or off the ground when Dawson is rucking.

Funnily enough Drummy I always happen to have something else on when the Peel reserves are playing (you know, like pulling the blue lint out of my belly button- even though I don't wear blue- I know, how does that happen). But I have no doubt you're correct.

Hopefully he'll play in the first team and then it won't be an issue. I just want him to dominate forward at WAFL level to give us some hope when Pav finally goes. Cross fingers
