If Bizkit replaces ROLY, will we all be left wondering why Tabs can't get a game? I think not.

Whats has always bothered me - I think he is playing out of character at the moment, I still think he's a marshmallow in a pair of footy boots. I maintain that Whats is a pussy.

But what really bothers me is real talent that gets bussed east, gets put in the seniors and do the job. Imagine if Buddy was given the latitude to snooze away in the magoos and get years of pampering under the guise of 'development'. He stepped up on Day 1 and never looked back - no mamby-pamby footy either.

I don't think Tabs is being held to unreasonable expectations. In fact, most would say he's exceeded expectations. He's a rookie pick playing at a high third round pick level.

Yep, recruiters have overachieved on Taberner.

That may be the problem with Tabs Morgan. Rookie picks aren't expected to do anything so now that he's gotten a game due to a complete lack of anyone else in a similar position, people believe he is capable of more when he is just an honest toiler at WAFL level let alone AFL. He's already reached his peak and everyone expects him to continue improving when there's little improvement left.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.

What?! He has to be firing from day 1 (or at least so very early in his career)? Not bloody like-leh! We are best served by allowing him to develop, whatever we wish we have, if he's what we've got, then we'll be best off allowing him to grow into his strengths and the forward structure around him. Who are we, the Steves?

I think the other posters here are saying he has developed, and that's as good as he is going to get. Perhaps we should throw young Collins forward for 10 games and see what he's got, or even promote ubergang off the rookie list, we have another position opened up with fyfe on the LTI list. Give these guys half a season each along side Pav while he's still here, rather than persisting with someone who after 3 years doesn't look like he's going to be the saviour.

If you apply the same thinking that is being used about Taberner, how many games do you think Shane Parker would have played for us. He was atrocious early and made some of the most fundamental errors kicking out from a point that you will ever see.
I share the frustration. People keep saying that he has been supported by Pav over the last 2 years. As much as I love Pav he has not been in the top10 forwards for quite some time. If you want to defend Pav based upon game plan. A legitimate defence, then the same defence also applies to Taberner.
I will say it again KPP forward is by far the hardest position to play. A Pearce looked ordinary when played forward, and offered no more than Taberner in that part of the ground but looks excellent when sent back.

Taberner has played 31 games or whatever (including a Rising Star nomination), that's the equivalent of just over a season. it's bordering on the ridiculous to say he's no more development left in him. Particularly for a big man. I bet if you have a look at big forwards (even the best) will struggle to make an impact on when on rationed games. An extended run will help his development immeasurably, so we might as well make use of our new nothing-to-lose status which is the silver lining of 0-5 start.

Yes ROTV, although I'm not a huge fan of Tabs, I still think an extended run for him now, is needed and the perfect time to do so, prior to figuring out what use he may be in 2017 onwards.
He may have played 31 games, but in 12 of those, he spent less than 80% Time On Ground.
Even though he made some costly mistakes last week, I thought he showed enough to give some hope ... and he's not alone in 2016 with the costly turnovers, even Neale and Fyfe have contributed.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

And I haven't played any AFL games so imagine the improvement in me!

Games at AFL level aren't a good indicator of level of improvement. Things like growing into your body and the ability to develop skills are how you develop. He's had a few seasons of playing AFL and has had plenty of time to experience what the game is like at that level.

His body didn't have far to develop from when he was drafted as he was already mature and older than the kids drafted out of the u18's carnival so physically he doesn't have to adjust to a new frame, strength, speed etc. Speaking of those traits he is not quick on the lead or at top speed, not particularly strong and isn't very agile. There's little improvement there.

His skills haven't really improved since his debut with many poor turnovers both by foot and hand. His marking is a struggle most of the time and he prefers to chest mark as a result which still sees him fumble and drop the footy too often. Some of that can be improved by practice but he'd have been kicking a footy around for almost 20 years by now so skills can be very hard to improve at this point.

Mentally he doesn't do well under pressure with the footy and makes incorrect decisions. He takes the wrong option and puts team mates under more pressure or turns it over. Decision making is something that is very difficult to teach or coach and Tabs has not improved at all in this area. It makes it harder for team mates to work with him and understand what he's trying to do and puts more pressure on his disposal which is already not very good.

Sure he may improve over the next couple of years but the rate of improvement expected is to a Ryan Murphy level if he's lucky. Any more than that would be an incredible jump and way over expectations. I wouldn't be relying on Tabs to be any more than a third tall and even then not a particularly good one.

I thought Taberner was pretty good today.

And I think he'll be better than all the doom-and-gloomers expect.
