Will anyone put their hand up? Ross, the so called master coach? Beaten at home by friggin Carlton? Ridiculous. Its all well and good having a multi million dollar contract extension, but you have to work for it and so far this season your work stinks. I don't want to hear your excuses, see your contempt for those who ask the "wrong" questions, the act is boring me like the crappy football our team is playing. I don't give a stuff about last year, it was great finishing top but until you have a premiership you have nothing. It seems to me you have rested on your laurels and your big stacks of cash and the team is a shambles as a result. You brag about letting other coaches take the reigns, thats worked out great so far. Goodbye to these Hawthorn hacks who were hired for their IP, where were the extra running sessions that set us up like last year? Garbage football gets these circa 2001 results. Finally you play a kid like Grey who proved his worth first outing. Do the right thing, play all the kids, trade crabs like Crozier, Sutcliffe and sheridan whilst they have some value and rebuild this aging, skilless and slow list. Maybe we might then see a premiership in our lifetime.

Mate we are that far from a premiership it may well not happen in our lifetime. A lady rang 6pr a few minutes ago criticizing Freo fans because premierships are 'very hard to win'. As if we don't get that. As if a flag just falls in your lap. We get it. They are very hard to win. But it doesn't change the fact that this is an equalised competition and even if you don't snatch a flag you should nevertheless spend a number of years at the top or near the top. That was it for us? 3 or 4 years as a good team that was never really that good? Now we get to spend another 16/17 years as the laughing stock of the competition? I said after the bulldogs game that this was a potentially sobering vision of our future and it has become reality far quicker than I would have imagined. I bleed for the club but it has always felt like a club that just doesn't 'get' football. Which makes no sense to me because South and East Fremantle, and the district in general, has produced countless great teams and an endless supply of top quality talent to the competition. But the Fremantle football club has never reflected that and I fear it never will. The mob down the road make us look like amateurs in comparison.
We face a massive rebuild. Ross, who to his credit was as honest as I have heard him after the game, can talk about structures and new game plans all he likes but we simply do not have the cattle. The ability to kick a footy to a team mate has to have been developed by the time you are ready to be drafted. You can practice all you like but it is innate- you either have it or you don't. You can practice at training all you like and you may improve marginally but there is a reason kicking skills are now the main focus at draft camps.
Aside from the performance of the debutants and a couple of other things, all I took from this game is that we should finally get a decent draft pick. It is over.

Its modern management. So many people involved nobody ever has to accept ultimate responsibility.

Some people get stung by a bee, and their whole body blows up. Its a classic overreaction.

This season is a bit deja vu of 2011 for me. We had injuries and just fell apart. A couple of seasons later we were in Melbourne at the end of September. Yes its bad, but its not, "No premierships in my lifetime" bad (unless you are in your 90's).

Jeez, Goodie, have we become so used to winning that as soon as we're staring down a lean patch we run around screaming, "the sky is falling!"? I know you're upset, I was mortified watching that performance. But 16/17 years of mediocrity ahead? You don't think that's a bit of an overreaction?
Yes, we're on the downward slope. But it won't be too long before we're up and about again. We're a far more professional club now than in the clueless early days.

We are far more professional than we were in the early days but let's be honest that is a very low base to be starting from.

The playing last is in a far worse state. Our top level footballers are Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, Walters, Johnson, Bennell and Sandi. Most of the others are very old and in a state of permanent decline, mid-aged and mediocre, or young and may or may not be any good. You can accuse me of jumping off them but I'm jumping off them for a reason- we are a poor footy team.

There weren't too many of the available kids they didn't play. Langdon and Collins were about it really.

I don't think we have the wrong coach at all. I think we have the wrong bloke in charge of recruitment.

Elvis retires. Who steps up as a tall backman? No-one.
Pav has needed another tall forward to help share the load and who steps up? Taberna - sort of.

Come 2017 we will be smashed up forward and down back and there's bugger-all Ross Lyon can do about that.

Which is why he's smarter than steves to get a contact renewal now. If they bottle it and try a fix with a new coach, Lyon's will recoup all that cash he lost on those dodgy investments a few years back...

So we're stuck with him, and we'll see if he's capable of building a team instead of just installing a system on one.

Given we can't snag any decent KPPs in trades, my money is on Lyon making more money.
