Wont be seeing Hooker on a Freo list for at least 5 years now.
The thing is with the talk of Marcus Adams and why we didnt pick him up. Take a look at the draft and Bulldogs picked up Keiren Collins who slid out of the top 20 just before our first pick in Darcy Tucker. So far Collins hasn't made his debut and Tucker has.
Dogs then took Adams at 35 and we picked up Balic at 38, who is out with injury.
but these aren't the comparisons we need to make.
Our key defender pick was Sam Collins at 55 who is more of a comparison with Adams in that both are mature age recruits. So once Collins makes his debut we will be able to measure his output. If we get to see a similar output or even slightly better by Collins, then Freo wins that.
If we win with the collins pick and in the process we have been able to take a quality tall further down the draft and in the process have picked up two mids who were touted as potential 10-20 draft range quality players, then I think its win/win for freo in that draft.
Plus we have added Harley Bennell.
Until we see that comparison, we cant determine whether picking tucker over adams was the right call or not, how many overs do you want to pay for some people in the draft or do you take the next best available in the first couple of rounds then draft to develop other positions you need?
