I struggle to comprehend that people are missing the boring, dull, low scoring games that are epitomised by Ross's tenure at Freo as opposed to these highscoring fast and exciting games being fought out this season. I would love to see an adventurous free wheeling Dockers team out there and give us something to get excited about. Remember that game when we flogged Collingwood by over a 100 points, an excited crowd, the mexican wave, thats what I want well maybe not the wave but you get the picture. All I can foresee is us grinding out a boring win against Carlton on Sunday.

What's more I am more than a little concerned about our prospects next Saturday, off a six day break and away from home.
Might have that week off work sick I think.

Clarkson is saying in his press conference that they've got to make it a more defensive game because they're letting in too many goals and it won't stand up in finals. How 'bout that.

I'll say it again, I liked it when we were winning and we kept teams to under 10 goals. Tonight's game was no more exciting than ones that were hard fought low scoring games. Winning makes it exciting and if you think otherwise, you're deluded. Walking out of Subi when we've lost after scoring over 100 Pts against the Suns, was rubbish. And I bet the crows fans tonight felt rubbish too even after their free flowing footy. Bring back the old way Roly, at least my weekends were memorable most weeks.

No way. I'm sure most Crows fans will be delighted with the way they're playing, even after the loss tonight. They're less talented than us but have clearly been given a licence to play attacking footy, moving it on quickly to one on one contests and prepared to risk a turnover if it gives them a chance to get the ball into a more dangerous position. Next Saturday is going to be ugly for us...

I dont care how we win - just as long as we do it to them before they do it to us.

Adelaide seem to have some bigs, what do we have to give up to get some. Let's say Neale and Mayne for McGovern and Jenkins. How's the appetite to secure KPP's now.
This may still not be enough to get it done

Jezza I agree walking out of the Suns game felt crap after scoring a 100 pts. Yes we lost, but it was the way we lost. Forget the 100 points, it was the lack of skills and the constant turnovers that made it horrible to watch. The 100 points felt like 50 because we played a crap brand of footy, playing catch up the whole way and it never looked exciting at all. We only got to100 points because the Suns let us, knowing they had the game in the bag.

Contrast that to last nights game. A couple of kicks in it the whole game, fast free flowing football punctuated with great composure coming out of defence by both teams, (something we can't do), and multiple lead changes. It was a great game to watch. Thats what I want to see. It has been proven we can't beat Hawthorn playing the stifling defence game of Rolys, so why not have a licence to run and stun and maybe even some find players along the way who have the skills to execute that type of game. If I walked away from last nights game knowing my team who were expected to be rubbish this season, had pushed the triple Premiers to within a kick, Id be pretty excited looking towards the future, Unfortunately Im not really that excited at all. Lets see how we fare against the Crows next week and the Hawks in a few weeks time. Im pretty certain we won't come within a few kicks of either of them.

dod If you were a supporter of either team you would have bemoaned the turnovers and lack of skill by various players at different times – but because it was another team you saw something else.

There's always going to turnovers, but 12 of NM goals last week were attributed to us turning the ball over to them.
Do you think either side contributed that many goals to their opponents last night? I don't.

Plenty of error last night from both teams. That allowed the umps to decide the win.

Unfortunately, the same happens with Rolyball, as the scores never blew out much on either side, you contain the opposition, but limit your own scoring too. Lyon must know our players will struggle with this years sort of football because we don't have enough skilled ball handlers. Rolyball is easier to coach skills wise. You just want most of your blokes to run and tackle and cover, until they want to spew up. Then keep doing it.

No question, Hawks are the best at sneaky, in-close plays, and the umps let them get away with it for fear of making a mistake. The open-palm slaps - how good would Cyril actually be if they actually called a free kick against him every time he open-palmed it - Cyril's reputation precedes him. Then, all the in-close throws disguised as handpasses that the umps don't call - hey umps, Hawks are slick for a reason - and that's cause they pretend to handball when they actually throw the ball.

And let's now add another one from the last few seconds of last night's game: the hold-the-ball-to-the-bicep move while pretending to try and handpass.

I just hope that the new Hawks assistant coaches we have are giving us the same intel on how to avoid getting picked up by the umps in close congested plays. Sheesh!

Montrachet, it is strange how our best kick for goal can get his head taken off inside the forward 50 and not get a free kick, ever, but Mayne and co get the "even it up" frees all the time.
