Anyone explain why Murphy wasn't given a free for being blatantly held out of the contest by Luke Bruest before he did his knee?
Not saying Breust was to blame for the injury, but he was clearly illegally impeding Murphy, often with his back to the ball, as it was coming towards them and Sicily.

Or; Breust leads Murphy to the fall of the ball. Breust realises he is going to over run drop zone and turns. That's why Bob is facing him. Breust is actually looking at the ball more than Bob. At the last moment Bob realises the ball is going to Sicily, not Breust. Bob tries to change direction to get to Sicily, but Breust is holding him out. It's the attempt to change direction that does Bob in as much as the hold.

Its difficult, because you could be absolutely sure that Murphy wanted to be in the marking contest, but not nearly so sure about Breust. There definitely was some shepherding Murphy out of the contest, but since Murphy was never really in it, its hard to pay a free.

I've looked at this vision, not a lot to add, but my immediate thoughts were the surface was soft and just moved under Bob's left foot. End of the game, fatigued, under immense pressure in a tight game with seconds left, straining to get back to the contest, and the surface just shifted, being the straw that broke the camel's back. My take, anyway.

Good point about the surface Blocker (BTW are you related to Dan of Bonanza fame?). Earlier in the game, I noticed the outer flanks were very loose - it really is a very ordinary surface, isn't it. I'd almost venture that it is unsatisfactory!

Sicily looks to be a player unbridled of fear and brimming with confidence. When he took his kick for goal missing wouldn't have even crossed his mind. Chris Mayne is the opposite right now and reminds me of a test batsman that after a few low scores is so worried about failure it is all that is going through his mind when in the moment.
