Why, in case his answer was 'backwards'? Because we've done that too.

It's Bond's fault.

Had he picked him up when he had the chance, we could have spared the guy from exposure to unsavoury types likes Mitchell and Clarkson and brought him up all decent and clean like his decent and clean brother.

oh and bloody Harvey

I agree with the idea that Bond is doing about as good as he can do without tanking. A few things come into play

- expansion teams took the first round of players for a few years
- We've been floating around the top 4 for the past few years so get late picks
- Most of the WA returning players and their families probably grew up supporting the Eagles when it was a one team town, so nominate them

I think considering the options of the past few years to come out with players like Bennell, Weller, Collins ect is a miracle.

Except we had chances at blokes like Yeo who grew up supporting Freo and we declined any interest. We had a shot at McGovern and declined any interest. Ditto Darling, Adams

I could go on but the pattern is there for all who can see

It would be great to have Yeo, but unless yeti’s got some inside knowledge, I’m not sure it’s a given we weren’t interested. West Coast were in the box seat for the following reasons:
I. They had higher picks to offer Brisbane;
ii. Our priority was KPPs, not medium-sized midfielders; and
iii. As a 19 year old, Yeo / his management probably thought he was a better chance of getting games at an up-and-coming team, rather than the team that just made the GF.

West Coast got him for pick 28, which is a steal. I suppose would could have used out first pick - 17 for Apeness – to try to trump West Coast. Given our absence of talls, I’m glad we drafted Apeness and A Pearce, although that depends on whether Apeness becomes a useful player.

McGovern hurts a lot. I’m not an expert spotter of talent, but I must admit, I saw McGovern play a little bit at Claremont and it wasn’t obvious he was an AFL player in waiting, even two years after West Coast drafted him. Kudos to those who saw that coming. Shame it wasn’t Freo.

So, we whiffed on the 2011 rookie draft, but it’s worth noting that in 2010 we got Mickey B and SCOS, and in 2012 we got Spurr and Clancee, so it’s fair to say we have had our share of hits, as well as misses. Again, don’t mention to the new Bond that we expect to steal multiple 150 game players in each rookie draft.

We all know about Darling. We missed there. As for Adams, he's pretty good, but perhaps we should wait until we see Tucker until we make a judgement. But I'm glad people are on the record that taking Tucker ahead of him is a mistake.

Yeo again hey ... remember last year when Slime supporters were backing him for the Brownlow.
The same star that had 5 Disposals in the Slime's Grand Final appearance last year including 4 Clangers, 0 Frees for and 4 Frees Against ... yer, I'm not convinced.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

Adams has had a couple of good games while flying under the radar, A Pearce did the same last year, and has found that once the attention of the opposition comes to focus on you it gets harder to shine every week. I would reserve judgement on whether missing out on Adams is a mistake until he has 20 or so games under his belt.
