I don't understand the media silence. Sandi's injuries were horrific, but everything has been downplayed. Even Kennedy said that he had suffered a similar injury, and oh dear, it caused him to be short of breath, that was all. Well, I don't think there is any comparison.

Why hasn't the AFL said anything? Why is the club silent? Why is NN untouchable? What would have happened if the situation had been reversed? I am so angry and I just want to see justice for Sandi.

We spend a lot of time on here recommending not to google things, but Google greatest marks of all time, and what percentage involve a knee on the back/shoulder/head? The high mark is a great part of our game. NicNat hit Sandi hard, but it was a legitimate mark.

Thats all very nice to say but the use of the knee in high marks involves gaining extra height.

NN made no use of the knee to gain any elevation. He went in straight. His technique is both flawed and dangerous. Just because others do it differently, it doesn't excuse examination of a dangerous technique.

It's not so much a question of raising the knee, it's where you choose to let the knee impact the opposition.
The video footage I have watched clearly shows Nic Knee put the right knee across towards his left side, with the knee pointed to maximise the impact (it's a view from Nic Knee's right side). There was no requirement for him to do that.

I see many marks every week and you very rarely see players do that ... because it's dangerous and malicious.

There is no issue with players using knees to get elevation in a mark ... Nic Knee used it to drive in to his opposition.
Since the Sandi kneeing, I've watched almost an hour of marking highlights and I have not seen any others where the marking player drives the knee into the back of the player. I have seen several where a player could have, but they choose to put the knee to the side to minimise the impact.

I struggle how people don't understand the difference.
Yes you can get elevation by raising the knee, but you don't get any when you drive the point of your knee in to the back of a player ... the only point of doing that is to hurt the player ... and it comes with a risk of doing spinal damage.

At the very least, the fact nobody can argue, it can easily cause a serious injury to a player by cracking their ribs and puncturing their lungs.
