Sorry FF, it may be very noble of you to try to deflect attention off the umpires, but if you closely watch the replays (as I do, repeatedly in slow motion with zoom when unclear) and scrutinise the umpiring you would see such things as Nic Nait jump under the marking contest with arms flaying and given a free kick (umpire said Ibbo pushed ... he definitely did not). This is just one of many that I could give examples of.
And yes, I definitely noted the Mayne out of bounds play, but that was missed by the boundary umpire, not the dodgy field umpires that I try to bring people's attention to.
And yes, Darling's should have been a 50m because it was a legitimate Free Kick to Sutcliffe, and the Slime ignored the umpires call. That then saw Sutcliffe about to take his kick on the new mark downfield and Darling running within 2m behind him. No additional 50m for encroaching the protected zone ... which was given against Walters earlier in the game when Masten went to kick the ball sideways and was already playing on, and Walters got about 5 behind him ... that resulted in a 50m, followed by a short kick to Darling who goaled.
Finally, that win by the Slime now means that in each of their last 6 derby wins against Freo, they also ended up in front with the Free Kicks. 2005 Round 3 was the last time the Slime beat Freo without winning the Free Kicks.
