Ross Lyon - "It's not my job to execute people."

That concerns me because it suggests that it is someone's job to execute people. Not so much the execution but it really seems like a job that would be more cost effective to have outsourced. Spending is out of control in our football department and I'm not sure we're getting value for money.

I bet there's even an Ass. Execution coach.

That whole presser last night worried me. RoLy's overall demeanour seemed horribly laid back or even frivolous at best - it's as if he were casting casual comments on a harmless Auskick game. Where was the anger? Where was the passion? Where was the taking responsibility for such a crap effort? And why was he smiling so much - is he on some form of medication? It was almost as if he didn't give a toss - and why would he now that he has signed another 4 year extension to his contract. Lengthy contacts for coaches only breeds complacency, not commitment. He now knows that if things don't work out we'll have to pay bucket loads to shift him. And it will make Harv's payout look like petty cash!

Nearly all our assistant coaches left at the end of last season and we replaced them with random no-names. Guys like Loyd and Kirk are elite and hard to replace. But you at least try. Our coaching panel looks incredibly thin this year and maybe it is showing already.

What is it about our centre clearances that see us bleed so badly now? Lyon talks about a change of structure, I don't see anything different. I see a flat Fyfe and Mundy. What do you guys see out of the centre square that is different?

You either win it out or have to stop the other blokes clearing it out, clearly on the latter we are not doing the job. The second thing is I think only Johnson and Spurr are quality backs , with A Pearce heading in that direction. Similar scenario to our forward line, we need an injection of quality.

One thing about our centre clearances Hypen that seems obvious to me is that we don't bloody well play Barlow and Hill in there enough. When we were getting smashed in the second quarter Barlow was playing that stupid half forward role thats never suited him(or De Boer, or Mzungu or Crowley)and Hill was playing half back.
When they were put back in the centre where they belong we were far more competitive.

Nothing like a good execution to lift the spirits of the people - but self-execution (I suppose) wasn't something RoLy considered. Funny, because everyone I have spoken to seems to think that would be the honourable thing to do - might even put a spark into all those new Ass coaches that have come to Freo on some kind of freeloading junket.
