I feel sorry for Griff. He was ordinary last weekend but so were most players. He's a confidence player and needs the coach to back him in, as occurred when he was the last ruckman standing a couple of seasons ago. At that time he was as good as any ruckman going around. Now he's in for one game and out for the next. I'm not suggesting that he is ahead of Sandi but he seems to be behind ZaC which is strange.

I will probably get smashed, but I was hoping Taberner would get an extended crack at playing mobile forward.
I am starting to suspect that he may struggle to step up, but I don't see many other options on our list. IMO this would be by far the toughest position on the field to learn and play. He is still young and I think would benefit more from playing at this level.
When the team was playing well early last year I remember being quite impressed and optimistic about him.

What I have seen of Brady Grey looks good for Sutcliffe especially given our inability to lay a tackle. Unsure of his efficiency by foot though.

Agreed Purple but is he more likely to come good in the ones or with Peel. We have tried playing him at Peel then back in then out, doesn't appear to have worked.

Tabs will come good. He's always in the right space and works hard to get his hands on the ball. He just needs to complete the mark and not spray the kick. Thats a confidence thing. Itll come.

Here's a trivia question for the masses. How many top 10 KPP picks in the last decade marked and kicked 40+ goals in their first 3 years at the club.Interested to know. Because, Matt Tabener is not a top 10 pick, more to the point, a rookie pick. Just a few names I like to mention. Jack Watts, Tom Hawkins, Jon Patton, Tom Boyd that comes to mind have had not so great starts to their career with Watts only now showing some signs of talent. If you think A. Pearce is our answer in the short term, then we're in for a surprise. But I guess we're the experts.

Jezza, strictly applying your parameters - National Draft 2005 on, top 10 draft pick, 190+cms, 40+ goals in any of their first three seasons...there is only one player.

Jake Stringer (WB) 56 goals in 2015 (3rd season).

Next best were Vickery (R) 36 in 2011 (3rd season) and Daniher (E) 34 in 2015 (3rd season).

If you go back one year to include 2004 ND, then include Franklin (H) 73 in 2007 (3rd season) and Roughead (H) 40 in 2007 (3rd season).

A Pearce and Tabs can only be compared if Pearce plays as a key forward for a number of weeks. We would all be loving Tabs if he had played 15 games in defence rather than a forward for a team that cant deliver it. My guess is Pearce will be no better than Tabs up forward. Feel very sorry for Tabs, he's only crime is that he is at the wrong of the ground for easy praise. Apart from Pav no one in Purple for a decade has held down a key forward post.

And therein lies our problem. We have been relatively successful on the back of some all Australian KPPs. Johnno, Luke McP and Pav. In three years time they will be replaced by APearce, Tabs and ??. It's not like for like!
