Noddy ask some of our small forwards whether they think Mayne should be dropped. I know one personally and you'd be surprised by his answer and he certainly doesn't agree with you. There needs to be a hard dude up forward ala Solomom, McPhee etc. (more escaped goats)
Agree a couple of youth Ok so long as in form but you still need hardness and experience. Hope A Pearce is fully over his injury before being thrown to the wolves - imagine him on Buddy tonight!

Sydney had to play 3 debutants tonight because they lost a few players last year. And if you look at their list, you can hardly call it a deep list. Given what Peel did today, we've got plenty of young kids that would get a game elsewhere. Hack, players like Langdon, Blakely, Pearce, Weller, would be a walk up start in the Eagles side. Enough said.

I've never known a forward, small or not, that wouldn't like their team to kick more goals.

I don't want all youth but I would like the next soldier in to be a Grey or a Blakely. I want something us members can look to the future and say yep he is going to be good for us he he stays in the team. We know what we have in De boer we know what we get with the Gu. Langdon gots lots of the pill today give him a go.

Re: Weller

Seems to be a WAFL website error. Perhaps someone ran out in his jumper after a blood rule or something and picked up a stat.

I know it happened a few years ago where Grover played for Subiaco, and his stats were listed under another players name - but in this one there's 23 players listed as playing for Peel vs 22 East Fremantle players, so its probably a data entry error.

His one stat on the WAFL site is ignored in the stats summary on the Fremantle website.

If the boy can lay off a handball receive from Hannah all the way from Melbourne, he has to be first team.

Don't underestimate Tommy S. I think he will be a very good player.

Interesting to see both Smith & A Pearce playing forward, perhaps after 4 years they have realised that Tabs is never going to be more than a 3rd tall up forward.

Perhaps after so many years of Ross' tactical nous, he realises that to win a granny he needs to throw Hunter Pearce forward. Then, and only then, will Lyon be considered a coaching great like Woosha.

Sydney's 5 "youth" players have all been system for a while. Callum Sinclair aged 26 was a mature aged pick at 23. Callum Mills the youngest is only 19 but was identified as a special talent and "drafted" into their academy at age 13 so has been training for afl for 6 years. The other 3 Callums are all third year players.

One good game played fresh maketh not an afl player. Check them at the end of the year.

Like Sydney, our draft first picks for last few years have all come late in the first round. Unlike ours, Sydney's draft picks are invariably among the best young kids in the country, who have been part of Sydney's academy. Ours are 'nice' players who with a bit of time and coaching could really contribute. Few have been walk-up starts.

There's one way to guarantee more debutants, and that's to suck. Or trade excellent players for high draft picks. Or to have more injuries.

I'm fine with the current approach.

A first round pick gives you access to an All Australian player. So I don't really take your point. We have some great kids, Waller, Crozier, Blakeley, Pearce, Langdon. Our bottom six is shallow. Play them !!!
