Seems the situation hasn't improved for the young man.

So disappointing for the young man.
What else could Freo have done to get Cam onto their list?

I rang Wallace on trade radio daily trying to come up with trades. I was shot down in flames each time. I did all I could. Rightly or wrongly I do consider myself an agent for the club., Even if they don't know it.

He's making a big stance here, by possibly throwing his season out the window. This could change things for future players who want out of their club or its location - it will empower the players by making the clubs realise they can't hang onto players who don't want to be there. Deals will have to be done.

Let's hope the right thing happens and he's pulling on a purple jumper in 2017.

In the meantime, I believe that Swan Districts have a spare spot on their list.

It's difficult to fathom how GWS could not have foreseen this happening. When clubs preached about player welfare and how they've put structures in place to deal with these issues, only to have it backfire on them, makes you wonder if they're infact just providing lip service to the matter. GWS is a team going no where fast and the AFL have blundered in establishing a team there.

I think the only way you may have got Cam was to offer a trade like Barlow and Ballantyne. Those are two players who have proven themselves at the highest level and who FREO could probably cover from our current list. I am sure this was all weighed up by the FREO head shed and eventually decided against.

What I find interesting is the effect this refusal to agree to let Cam go home, may have on young Giants players currently on the list. The separation from his family is obviously having an effect on him mentally and emotionally and it would appear that the Giants are happy for that to be the case, regardless of how much football Cam plays. Just as long as he is on their list. Where are the AFL players association in this, surely the welfare of young players is their chief concern? Perhaps you need to be a systemic drug cheat, or smash your car up drink driving before they get interested.

I think Cam will be at FREO next season, he does not appear to want to be in Sydney regardless of the BS the Giants are spinning. If the Giants are smart they will get something for him at the end of this season, otherwise he walks for nothing the following season.

Surely 2 high picks is way overs now. GWS will be regretting not accepting our offer.
Hopefully our first pick would get the job done next year - maybe even a second round pick if he doesnt recover at all.
But stay tuned for 10 days of BS negotiations.
GWS is a joke of a club, fold em up and have a fire sale or move them to Tassie

A regular trot around Freo oval might improve his mood during this period.

Ahh some oxygen to fuel some McCarthy-talk.

I did think it was pretty insecure for them to think that letting a player or two return home was going to open the flood gates. The best thing is for them to have the systems in place to provide reasons for the vast majority of their list to stay. I'm pretty sure GWS still has the extra room in their salary cap for that, so could of been more receptive to a deal that would favour them in the long run. Of course it's their prerogative to not trade given contract status etc, but in the end if that insecurity drives decision making, it's more likely the decisions will be bad ones.

There are no guarantees here. IF he decides to play on next year, don't rule out WCE making a play for him. His priority to to head west, then to go to Freo. If WCE put together a better deal they'll get him. In the meantime, the highest priority is that he gets well and decides if the AFL is the right place for him.

CM could go to the budgies, but what McGovern, Le Cras, Kennedy etc etc. GWS will regret their stance on trading CM. In fact, I'd be surprise if Jeremy Cameron finishes his career there. Watch this space.

GWS boss was just on Melbourne radio spruiking the same line he was during the trade period. "Ive never seen a player so happy to be at GWS" The commentators were quick to start calling him a sook since he didn't get traded.
I'm pretty certain the talk of home sickness was quite strong from the CM camp but GWS chose to ignore it and now they are paying the price.

Well I certainly hope Ross has been on the phone and invited Cam to come to training. After all, wherever he is next year, it won't have done him any good to miss a year's development.

Fremantle have to be careful here. If they make any overtures to CM it might be construed as an attempt to destabilise an in-contract player at another AFL club.
