On AFL website it's already been hinted that Essendon will take Mitch Brown with their 24 or 25 pick so if we really think he can help us to a premiership next season, that is 2016, then someone in the recruiting department has to acknowledge this need and get the job of picking him with our pick 22. Yarra, Ah Chee and all these supertalented midgets may have great skills however we already have 2 of the best small forwards in the comp with Ballas and Son Son as well as Harley so to draft these guys would not be helpful in the short term. The only option to drafting Mitch Brown would be if one of the few ready to go young key position draftees were still available at pick 22. I'm probably talking Ben or Harry McKay, Eric Hipwood, Kieran Collins or Ryan Burton here. As for Sam Grimley, he should be picked up as a delisted free agent pronto or at least be put on a permission to train list if we have one.
The midget forwards can be taken with later picks if they are good enough and still there but their availabilty should not confuse our priorities at this draft.
