Given the retirement of Luke MacPhalin, and our lack of tall options. If we pick up Mitch Brown at 22, what do you think???

Yes! but of course we'll really pick a midfielder first.

I would rather risk that he'll be available at 35 and use 22 on the best available. *Best available KPP.

We should take Rioli at 22, S Yarran with 35 and Brown or Grimley at 61.

I think he will be picked up pretty early so they say.....Mitch Brown is big and strong and can play at either end of the ground he would be a good addition to help our young talls givin that this year is considered a weak draft I think he's worth the risk

On AFL website it's already been hinted that Essendon will take Mitch Brown with their 24 or 25 pick so if we really think he can help us to a premiership next season, that is 2016, then someone in the recruiting department has to acknowledge this need and get the job of picking him with our pick 22. Yarra, Ah Chee and all these supertalented midgets may have great skills however we already have 2 of the best small forwards in the comp with Ballas and Son Son as well as Harley so to draft these guys would not be helpful in the short term. The only option to drafting Mitch Brown would be if one of the few ready to go young key position draftees were still available at pick 22. I'm probably talking Ben or Harry McKay, Eric Hipwood, Kieran Collins or Ryan Burton here. As for Sam Grimley, he should be picked up as a delisted free agent pronto or at least be put on a permission to train list if we have one.
The midget forwards can be taken with later picks if they are good enough and still there but their availabilty should not confuse our priorities at this draft.

Am I missing something here, Mitch brown was delisted by Geelong at the end of this season. Surely they would have accepted a third round pick during the trade period, no offers so was delisted now there is talk of pick 22 to get him. How does that work?

Brown was delisted by the cats last year and had a breakout season playing solely in the VFL this year, hence no trade or delisted free agency.

How many years was he at Geelong before his break out year? Seems a very high pick for somebody who was in the system, delisted and, to that point, not shown enough potential for one of 17 other teams to pick him up.

I can tell you there was some face palming happening at the club, leading up to trade week. McCarthy was never on the table. GCS wouldn't respond to any requests to meet. Yet Bond persisted before and during trade week, when he should have focussed on blokes that were actually available.

There's a reason why Bond has virtually become a meme round here. The best trade the club could make is putting someone else in his job. He only reason he got Bennell was because the bloke wouldn't go anywhere else, and no one else wanted him.

I reckon Pavlich delayed his decision to retire pending the outcome of next years list. The fact he's staying isn't necessary positive

I'll do a deal. When Bond stops giving us something to whinge about. I'll stop doing it. Maybe the people involved with the club will too.
