Quite possibly demo1.

If they did, it's not something that can be undone. Soft tissue injuries tend to permanently plague some players.

He didn't get a lot of love from the Alberton crowd, not many Port supporters are sad to see him go. Perhaps there's something else going on? Then again, perhaps they're just ferals.

Still it's a timely warning to those who want to 'fatten up' A. Pearce and Tabs. Softly, softly may be the best way to go. Apeness looks like a very young man who's bulked up too quickly.

I reckon that's what spelled the end of Medhursts' career at Freo, he was bulked up too quick and lost his zip and leap, and copped more injuries.

So Fre_Doh, you seem to have all the stats on every game played by every player in Aus, who would you pick up to help/succeed Pav in the forward line? Then how do we get them?

Fre_DOh
Assuming 2016 is Pav's last season, there is no-one that we can bring in to help the great man. Not now. Any assistance will have to come from within - teammates stepping up / tweaking of game plan / improved disposal skills. Groan.

The post-Pav era will require the guy who wears no.1 at Melbourne FC. McCarthy would be a good get, but he really is only a #2 forward. Hogan is the real prize (question marks re his back aside). The kid really will be the best tall forward in the game...and he really does love Freo.

The pressure on him to re-sign with Melbourne over the next two years will be enormous. We need to be in his ear NOW. If he re-signs with Melbourne it will be a mega deal and he will be lost to us forever.

We will need to offer up multiple first round draft picks and high value players (and have a shed load of cash on hand as well). Do we have the will to do what it takes? Groan. Groan.

We have a shot at Hogan but the long lead time between now and his contract expiry makes it unlikely we'll ever see him in purple. I doubt he will want to spend his entire career mired in mediocrity but there will be suitors calling from all angles.

Getting back to the real world, there's no obvious player available from other clubs delistings or any of the state leagues to provide the panacea we seek.

Dixon would have been a mistake. Black wouldn't have been the answer. Schulz would have been a solid temporary fix.

I have a feeling we're going to go with midfielders at the Draft as well. Maybe we take a punt on someone at the pre-season draft.

I believe we're 'all-in' with our current crop of talls. We desperately need a couple of them to step up. Multiple groans (x 2).

Have you done due diligence on Mitch Brown, Fre_Doh?

Fre_DOh
Just for you Agarn.

Mitch Brown 2015 season (Sandringham - VFL).

Rd1: Up forward, Mitch Brown was a stand out on debut, kicking four goals and clunking eight marks.
Rd2: No report.
Rd 3: Up forward, Mitch Brown continued his role as the main man inside 50, clunking 8 marks and kicking 2.5.
Rd 4: Mitch Brown put in a workman-like performance, taking 8 marks and kicked a goal.
Rd 5: Mitch Brown (17 disposals 5 tackles and 2 goals) and Tim Membrey (3 goals) both worked their opponents and created opportunities for the smalls at their feet.
Rd 6: Not mentioned in match report.
Rd 7: Mitch Brown, playing behind the ball, was influential in keeping Werribee at bay in the third. He had 8 touches and 5 marks in a best on ground performance.
Mitch Brown had his best game for the club, amassing 29 disposals, taking 13 marks and kicking 2 goals.
Rd 8: Hear coach's post game comments (1.58-2.29).
soundcloud.com/sandringham-zebras/vfl-ro...or-coach-paul-hudson
Rd 9: Mitch Brown (27 disposals, 8 marks).
Rd 10: Bye.
Rd 11: Mitch Brown (33 disposals, 7 marks) came up big when the team needed leaders to stand up, including flying over the pack to make a game winning spoil in the dying stages of the clash.
Rd 12: It was a particularly difficult start for the talls, as the early rain and wind made it tough overhead. Mitch Brown and Paddy McCartin were unable to get their hands on the footy.
When the Zebras have needed a lift this season, the ‘Big 3’ of Adam Cockie, Clint Jones and Mitch Brown have stood up. Today was no exception, with Cockie and Brown kicking big time goals to give Sandringham a sniff of a miraculous victory.
Rd 13: Not mentioned in match report.
Rd 14: Not mentioned in match report.
Rd 15: Not mentioned in match report.
Rd 16: Bye.
Rd 17: Not mentioned in match report.
Rd 18: Mitch Brown covered the loss of Tom Lee well with 27 disposals and 10 marks across halfback.
Rd 19: BESTS:
Sandringham: Brown, Pierce, Jones, Saad, Weickhardt, McCartin.
Rd 20: Not mentioned in match report.
QF: Not mentioned in match report.
SF: Sometimes all it can take to change the direction of a contest is one coaching move. Paul Hudson switching Mitch Brown from defence to forward turned the game on its head, with the versatile star taking full advantage of Collingwood’s lack of height down back.
Brown had impact almost instantly, marking on the lead at centre half forward and setting up Eli Templeton for his first goal of the afternoon.
Clunking seven marks in the last quarter, Brown was proving to be a match winner. His mark and goal, followed by Dennis-Lane gathering a fumbled footy and kicking the major, gave Sandringham an eventual match-winning lead.
When the lead was cut to one point, Brown stepped up again. Taking a strong contested mark, the swingman went back and calmly slotted the snap with little fuss.
The game was led by two men all afternoon. Clint Jones amassed 44 disposals and kicked a goal, while Mitch Brown kicked three goals and had nine marks in a match-winning move up forward.
Brown, who has taken the second most marks in the competition and is second only to Jones at the club for most disposals, is favoured to be drafted by Essendon, but there could be several other suitors after another telling performance.
PF: Last week’s match winner Mitch Brown was switched forward with instant success. Flying across the pack, Brown marked and goaled to begin a run of three successive Zebras goals.
For every Box Hill goal, Sandringham responded with two. When the Hawks cancelled out Brown’s early quarter major, the Zebras answered through Saunders and Minchington. Then when Sam Grimley marked on the goal line and snapped true, Brown took a towering contested mark and nailed the goal from a tough angle.
Up forward, Mitch Brown led the way with four goals and 12 marks.

Corporal Agarn
You're the man Fre_Doh!

I think he sounds pretty good form those accounts. Can play at both ends of the ground and takes a good mark. I hope we go for him. But can he play in the midfield?

Interesting that another forward we were once interested in in Tom Lee is now playing in the backline according to that report.

While getting Hogan would be good, paying too much is not such a good idea. Sydney paid well over MV for 2 of the best forwards in the game a couple of years ago, and have not really received a good return on their investment.

I would be loathe to write off Shaw this early in his career because of a season interrupted with osteitus pubis. Our greatest ever backman for those of you with extremely short memories suffered similarly at the Hawks before he came home to be a 200 game plus player for us. Chance Bateman from the hawks is another player who in his first three seasons suffered from hamstring problems and the dreaded OP, but went on to play 100 plus and win a premiership with the Hawks. If we pick Shaw up with a low pick in the draft, or rookie him what's the harm? Sounds like he never really got going at Port, but sometimes a change of location and being home makes a hell of a difference. Comparing him to the Essendon chap is not fair as he had seven or so seasons to prove himself and his body was just not up to it. Shaw is a completely different kettle of fish. Or we could draft some more mids.
